[1.00.52] Amphibias invasion of home territory

I got a pop up message about an "invalid invasion target" and then this happened

I had good fun defending against Operation Sea Lion, but i don't think it should have been able to happen by the game's rules.
I also noticed some weirdness in the battle itself where one of my British destroyer divisions ended up under German command.
I've attached the last campaign save I made before the battle as well as a battle save from the invasion battle itself.

I had a similar experience. After a no-resist Japanese surprise attack on Russia, I was offered the opportunity to invade the Far East Russia. The battle continued as normal, but, unfortunately for my curiosity, the war ended before the invasion did.

This is either a glitch or else requires some sort of explanation.

I've had the same as Japan - surprise invasion of Russia's Far East territory; and likewise their surrender before the territory was taken.

I wonder if somethings changed with the RNG that select invasion territories?
