HQ/supply questions

Post by jonpfl »

All,

1) I assume a HQ unit provides both supply and combat bonuses to any attached units, correct?
2) If 2) is true, is there anything else it provides?
3) For supply, if a HQ unit is sitting on a hex with X supply, it boosts that to X + Y (where Y is HQ1 bonus) supply, correct?
4) If 3) is true, that supply can be used by any unit (attached or detached), correct?
5) For linking HQs in regards to supply, only ONE HQ unit can be attached to another HQ, correct?
6) If 5) is true, is this how it works?
A) HQ1 is sitting on X supply and thus provides X + Y (where Y is HQ1 bonus) supply
B) HQ2 (linked to HQ1) and is getting X + Y - distance supply and then it is providing Z supply (which is supply from HQ1 minus distance and HQ2 bonus)

Thx

Hi

1) Correct.
2) No.
3) A HQ has a supply distribution value, which if it is higher than what units would otherwise receive from resources, does boost supply values.
4) Yes, except for air units unattached to HQs do not receive supply from HQs. Also if the HQ is from a non-cooperative, non-supply providing ally (e.g. Soviet and British HQs together in WW2 will not supply each others' units).
5) Correct.
6) It essentially boosts the supply value of the other HQ.

What does "non-cooperative, no supply providing ally mean"?

Are there some allies that their HQ can provide supply?

The game I am playing in Europe has a Bulgarian unit and there is an Italian HQ getting close to it, will the Italian HQ provide support when it gets close enough?

The Italian HQ should provide full support. Bulgaria has an Axis alignment, and the cooperative status box is ticked.

If they were non-cooperative allies like the British and Soviets each will receive a maximum supply of 3 from the others’ resources and they can't operate (rail) units around in each other's controlled territory.
