Installing second WITE2

Post by Dereck »

Posted this in the wrong place last night by accident:

Is there a way to install a second version of WITE2 on the same computer so I could have one version I'm playing and another version either with game changes or to be used for the original source files?

Thanks

or copy your main installation into a new folder and add a shortcut to desktop to start this one.

Would something like this work?

-- Current game install
E:\Matrix Games\Gary Grigsby's War in the East 2\

-- New (second) game install
E:\Matrix Games2\Gary Grigsby's War in the East 2\

It will, but you don't have to put it in a Matrix games if you don't want to.

Just to confirm before I actually do this. This IS installing from the original game CD and then updating from a patch file.

You get to choose exactly where you want to install it. It will say where it will install it, just change it.

Ok I'm sorry for beating a dead horse and wearing your patience but I'm getting confused.

There is another thread where I'm being told top create a folder and copy the existing install into it and then install the new version.

This thread makes it sound like I can just do another complete install/patch into a different directory and have two WORKING versions at the same time.

Two different directories, two different names for your shortcuts,(so you know which is which), two working installs.

I had two copies of Ageod's Civil War as I played two different people, one who updated to the latest patch constantly, one who didn't as often. As long as each install is in a different directory, you can install as many as you want.

Instead of E:\ Matrix Games\etc, try E:\GamesMatrix\etc or E:\Whatever you want to call it\etc
