[RESOLVED][1459 CIV] Empty DB viewer and Scenario viewer windows

Post by SquadronExecutive »

Nothing is rendered in the DB viewer and Scenario viewer windows. Empty windows. The globe is drawn normally.

What OS and browser are you using. Is MS Edge installed. I suspect an issue with webview2. Other than that, devs will have to troubleshoot.

edit: Saw that you have Win10

Win 10 x64, Edge Version 128.0.2739.79 (Official build) (64-bit)
Just after install game didn't find Microsoft.Web.WebView2.WinForms:

Code: Select all

Inner Exception: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Web.WebView2.WinForms, Version=1.0.2151.40, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=2a8ab48044d2601e' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
Inner StackTrace:    at Command.MessageLogWindow_RawText.quWsThOlfw()
   at Command.MessageLogWindow_RawText..ctor()
Because there aren't this files in GAC, I got this file and Microsoft.Web.WebView2.Core.dll from the nuget package and copied it into the Command directory. The assembly loading error disappeared, but a new problem appeared - empty windows.

I'm not sure if I had this issue, or just something similar, but I needed to uninstall webview2 and redownload. I think it had something to do with W10 and disabling automatic windows updates. I now have the same version as you and have no issues so can't speak to the new problem

Thank you. "uninstall webview2" - what exactly you mean?

In the control panel in Windows: Programs>Programs and Features>Uninstall a Program. It's listed as Microsoft Edge Webview2 Runtime and then I redownloaded the latest at the time from Microsoft. I have version 128.0.2739.54 now (I had quite an old version I think) so it might be worth trying, but not sure if it will help you.

Can you try to recheck integrity files through Steam?

This seems like some DLLs are missing from the binaries folder.

Thank you. Unfortunately there is only Modify option, not Uninstall

Then why are you using 1459?

From the update thread...

"If you are not using Steam and have been holding on for a Matrix updater: DO NOT use this"

I solved the problem in two steps. I added WebView2 files to the game folder and configured permissions for the Command.exe.WebView2 folder that WebView2 creates in the game folder. The thing is that the game is installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Games\Command Modern Operations and even though it runs under an administrator account, it still can't write to Command.exe.WebView2. After setting permissions, the dialogues in the game ( Database Viewer and Script Viewer) worked. Thanks for your support.

Oh, you right
If you are not using Steam and have been holding on for a Matrix updater: DO NOT use this, it doesn't have all the files you need and you'll go through one crash after another.
My bad. I wait for update too much :)

[RESOLVED] i dont think so.

I just got the "Cant load anything" error. I have no idea how to fix it and quite frankly i cant be bothered to keep tweaking things.
After all this time waiting for an update to fix problems can we please please have a game version that actually works.

Just clarifying...works for you. Myself and a number of players aren't having the issue.

Im a non Steam user.

Curiously, i was able to play Falkland Campaign scenarios yesterday. Now nothing. What changed?
Incidentally the game has been loaded in the Programme files (x86) for years now. Should i reinstall in a normal folder (that will make 4 times starting from clean uninstall this week).

Thanks to you all but the level of frustration is very high right now.

I'm sure nothing has changed with the game itself. Its always risky running in that folder as permissions and security changes can happen with windows updates.

btw, why would you stick this thread that doesn't seem to be related?

1463 biv which loads ok but you cannot open new scenarios, saved games, community scenarios, campaigns. After the attempt to load a scenario everything freezes.
