Combat Execution/Report

Post by HansBolter »

Please consider adding the ability to cancel a tedious combat execution/animation while still allowing the player to view a final combat report.

This is the way combat animation cancelation works in WitPAE. This is far preferable to being robbed of the opportunity to view a final combat report by ending the animation as this game is currently structured.

If you set the message level (just use the number keys along the top) to 2 or 3 it should skip pretty much all of the execution detail and go straight to the combat result screen.

Yes, I learned that only after experimenting with a setting of 4.
Which is where I discovered that canceling out of the endless stream of text would rob me of a view of the final report.

The final Report you can always look at again later on during your turn. There are two ways.
1. Click F11 (there is also a clickable button on the top of your screen when in Map view), this will show you the battle sites on map as circular logos on the Hexes. Red = Soviet attack, Black = Axis Attack. You can choose wheter you want to be shown Air, Ground or both battles.
2. use the Commanders Report (CR) -> Keyboard C and use the "Battle" section on the top of the screen. Then click the Coordinates to jump to a battle location.

The Battle Site icons are useful, and I do use them, but it still does more for my recollection of events to get a report as it's happening than after the fact.

Unfortunately, I find the Commanders Report to be of no use to me whatsoever.
