Text is Highlighted with Hot Pink

I  just picked this game up today (26SEP24) and I am having issues running it. My OS is Windows 11. At first it would not run at all. I changed to running it on Win 7, after it was set to vista. It would load into the game, but then the text was impossible to read. When I switched it to Win 8, it finally worked, however, all text is highlighted in hot pink. I tried to take some screen shots but then it screwed up the game and removed the map of Europe and the text was cut off from the bottom by a third. Suggestions?

Under "Options" try toggling the direct draw software emulation and see what happens after a restart of the game. You can also change the font from the options menu to see if that helps.
