How to read Logistics Report

Post by shgenerolas »

Hi guys.

Maybe veteran players would agree to share some tips on how to better understand information in the Logistics and Production reports. The meanings of paragraphs and columns are described in the manual. However, you need a lot of experience in grand campaigns to understand what trends and problems the numbers indicate. For example, my HvH grad campaign (I'm Axis) T3 Production report shows that I have 57K trucks in the depot, 17K are in the pool, 17K are under repair. But without experience, I can't tell if my truck trends are good or bad.

Perhaps someone from the veterans could share their experience, which numbers are worth paying attention to?

As an example, I am uploading my T3 Logistics and Production reports (print screens should be done before performing air directives).

I'm sure the tips would be helpful for more than just me!

Thanks!

You can use those two screens in many ways, and each player may find different information useful.

My personal approach to the production screen includes monitoring:
1. Aircraft numbers to determine model surplus or shortage, which informs upgrade decisions.
2. Ship numbers in each sea, as they often dictate capacity for naval supply (cargo ships) and naval transport (troop ships).
3. Truck numbers by adding up trucks in units, pool, depots, and repair and tracking changes each turn to anticipate potential long-term shortages. This informs decisions on advance speed, unit positioning relative to depots, and depot construction.
4. The ground elements map is particularly useful for informing max TOE decisions. I don't use it all the time but may take a deep dive when there's a break in operations.

In the logistics report, I frequently check:
1. Supply levels for Panzer Groups to manage advance speed in case of significant shortages.
2. Unusual events like leader dismissals or units unfrozen, which might otherwise go unnoticed.

As a fan of your game, K62, I am very grateful for answer! I try to use this information to monitor situation and plan my advance, but without a lot of GC experience, it's hard to understand what you see :) Probably the only right solution is to play more and more. But I will ask you anyway:

1) From your experience what number of trucks shows good trends? Let's say in this example I have 57K trucks in the depot, 17K are in the pool, 17K are under repair. Is that good? I understand that the numbers depend on the specific game stage, but maybe it's possible to give what good number of trucks is?

2) Do I understand correctly that if a panzer group receives more supplay than it needs, in general it means that you can advance further (of course after checking fatigue and other things)? Or maybe the main indicator for advancing further should be supply situation of specific divisions, and not the supply situation of the panzer group?

3) How can elements mapping be used for Max TOE planning? If division A is missing an item B that is too far away, then is it worth reducing that division's Max TOE so that it doesn't seek to get item B which is far away?

Thanks!
