[FIXED] Tacview : models not updating

Post by Emp_Palpatine »

Hello,

I just got Tacview advanced for CM and for now only tried it in a single scenario (gaming time quite limited due to daily life), i.e. Uncle Marc's Uganda thing.

The issue I was confronted with : the ennemy models do not update. They keep the "ww2 yellow plane" even after identification. (and another one with missing models being replaced by paper planes or boxes, but I guess that's quite expected for some)
I need to close the 3d view and re-launch it to be properly updated.
Did I do something wrong? Or did I forget something? Any fix around?

Thanks!

That's a quite expensive product, I sure hope there is some tech support...

Hi,

We have not been able to reproduce this issue yet. If you are experiencing this consistently, can you provide a save of the situation shortly before the problem manifests? This would help us considerably in seeing and hopefully troubleshooting the issue.

Thanks!

Hello there,

So, I let things slide because of IRL and I was waiting for the beta to see if things are improved.

I just installed the beta and tried again.
No joy.

Here's a save playing a basic tutorial.
What happened when I resumed :
In tacview, skunk never upgraded to target/merchant ship and stayed "yellow/random ship icon".

I won't relaunch the game to keep logs clean. Please tell me if you need anything uploaded.

Tested a few scenarios (community or official), still the same issue. Tacview doesn't refresh the contact status, nature or model.

I can provide some logs if this can help.

Any update?

The problem is persistent as af of today, CMO doesn't perform as advertised (i.e. simultaneous telemetry with Tacview).

Hi,

We'll take a look as we can, the dev team is extremely busy at the moment (you'll see why very soon).

In the meantime, can anyone else cross-confirm this? We need to understand if it's a machine/installation-specific issue or happening to everyone.

I think at least one player has a similar problem, he posted on Steam. I redirected him here.

I suppose to maybe something on my side, as none else is complaining... But I fail to see what, and I have checked everything I can think of!
Hence the cries for help. :)

I just ran TacView 1.9.4 with CMO build 1463 CIV. Ran the sub tutorial. This is what I get. The contact remains yellow even id IDed properly. Its not the model, its the color that not updating. Its pretty well known that not all TacView models have CMO distinct models. I think thats why you are seeing the model not change. It remains generic.

Its the color not changing I am more interested int.

That's what I get.

Check it : when you close TacView and launch it again, it refreshes and if the contact is now hostile + identified in CMO, it will be in TacView. And in this sub tutorial, I got a nice container ship model.

So that's not a model problem.
It's a CMO-TacView communication issue : TacView doesn't get the update of objects following identification or status change. But it checks and gets it when rebooted.

This is currently being looked at internally.

Tacview behaves differently in Editor mode than it does in regular mode.

I don't remember the specifics, but the color updates, etc. seem to work better in non-Editor mode.

In Editor mode, the user can switch the player's side, and it's as if Tacview gets confused as to what side the colors are relative to.
The boogabooga doctrine for CMO: Any intentional human intervention needs to be able to completely and reliably over-ride anything that the AI is doing at any time.

Thats a good point. I always play in editor mode and never even considered that.

I get the incorrect color behavior in normal (non-editor) mode in the first Submarine Tutorial. When first detected it has the shape of (I think) a Knox class frigate, in dark yellow (I'm partly colorblind so leeway on colors please :-) ). When it is IDed as enemy, it does not change, and remains a yellow frigate, even when refocusing on the sub, and going back to the contact. Closed Tacview, reopened it and the target ship appears as red and a large container ship.

I didn't try it in editor mode since wood1 already did so.

Thats what I saw in editor mode. This has been an issue for a while. I think I reported it earlier this year.

btw, its Thewood1 to you.

So sorry. "Thewood1"

You can just call me Dave :-) The ultra part comes from ultra running (longer than marathon distance). I haven't done one in a while and I'm getting too old for that kind of nonsense. I do still run however, so I still use the handle.

I told my wife last year I just want to be one of those guys that when they get old, people say, "Look at him. It's so great still that he's still running at his age" She said, "I've got news for ya' honey. They already say that about you" Doh!
