Excessive CPU Usage

Hello all

I've just recently installed Distant Worlds 2 on my new gaming PC and I'm finding that the game is using roughly 50% of my CPU capacity right at the very start of a 700 star new game. As soon as I go from the main menu into the game proper, my CPU cooler fan goes crazy fast and loud as well as CPU usage shooting up to about 50%.

This all seems like excessive system resource usage for some reason as I never experienced any of this on my other much older gaming PC. Please note that this problem occurs both on the current stable version and the current beta version.

I've attached a Dxdiag report to this post for your reference.

Please let me know if what I'm experiencing is normal or if it is indeed a problem with the game.

Is your performance affected at all? Is it worse on your new system compared to your older system?

DW2 utilizes multi-threading with newer systems able to take advantage of this more compared to older systems. As such, greater CPU usage is expected unless there are dangerously high temperatures observed and performance is significantly impacted. Modern systems should be able to handle these loads without much issue. Please let us know if you're seeing otherwise.
