Helkp with game's graphics

Hi,

New player here, coming back to this game from GG after an hiatus of about 20 odd years.
So, I bought the game earlier today and upon instalation, the graphics I am looking at are not the same I recall from the early 2000s and not even compare to those posted on this site.

For reference, I am attaching a jpg showing what I am looking at atm.

Please understand that running the game either directly or through DXWnd doesn't have an effect on the washed out colours I am seeing, only solving the problem of most of the text being inside a pink field if the game is ran directly.

If someone could help, I'd be most grateful.
