Door number 1, Door number 2 or Door number 3?

Post by DavidDailey »

It seems to me that after the Battle for France, the Commonwealth is faced with three options. 1. Fight like Hell to save Egypt. This protects the Mid East oil fields, Russian southern flank and East Africa. 2. Vanquish the Wolf Packs. Invest heavily in ASW research and weaponry, escort carriers and more destroyers. This preserves that vital convoy income. 3. Counterattack in Europe. Limited invasions or at least raids into France, maybe invade Norway. Takes pressure off the Russians by diverting Axis units to Western Europe. 4. Temporize. A combination of two or even all three of the above choices. But is this really an option? My question is, behind what door does the Path to Victory lie? By the way, the wife is a fan of Let's Make a Deal.

There's no simple answer to your question David which is probably why you've had no reply thus far.

Ideally, it's 'all of the above'.

The Allies must protect the Arctic convoys otherwise Russia is doomed. If Egypt is lost then so too are the oilfields. And Russia needs the Allies to be making attacks into Europe to divert Axis attention and also gain the valuable NM boost from landings in Italy & France.

Don't forget about the Pacific :)

In our current game, you held France until June 1940, so that's on par.
You did lose 2 British Armies and British Corp, not the end of the world.
Egypt battle has started, both sides have not shown any major units yet.
Royal Navy has not been spotted, well, U-Boats haven't done much (yet).

In China, don't bother defending worthless land.
The Engineer you've used in the North, behind the line, imho, that's kind of defeatest.
Quality of quantity with China, because the Japanese have some experience and Air most the time.
Need some AA-guns or AA-tech,

You don't have to save Egypt if you don't let the Germans in in the first place.
