[WAD] Minehunting vessel doing unpredictable turns

Post by Quark73 »

Mine hunting needs a lot of micromanagement, since turning at the right moment to get mine into the area of influence of the mine clearing device is key to get the mine exploded without harming the vessel.
Sometimes CMO is hooking like a rabbit when I try steering the boat.

In this case the boat was steering in north western direction, the plan was to turn in north eastern direction to get the blue triangle over the mine. But suddenly the boat turned south west and the triangle disappeared, what always happens when the boat does hard turns.

This is the same situation some moments later. The boat shipped along it's path, the triangle appeared again and shortly before arriving the mine it did a hook again.

Hi, it seems like this is happening due to the ship not having its anti-mine equipment on, once I went into the MCM pod settings and turned all of them on it sweeped the mines normally along with the other ships

Thank you for answering. I had on some ships intentionally only one kind of anti-mine equipment turned on, to test how it works in general.

In between I found a way that works okay-ish for me with mine-clearing missions. While the AI seems not very focused on removing the mines and only kills them if a boat by accident get kinda close to the mine. So what I do is, when a boat detected a mine, I order one of the boats manually nearby the mine. In most cases it removes the mine then. Sometimes a boat gets stuck and drives back and forth without success. Then I do send another one, this helps usually.

When you selected all anti-mine equipment, had you same experience as described in this subject here?

If I try to select all devices some of them de-select themselves after I close the Sensors window and open it again.

As I wrote, there is a way that brings acceptable results, so that's okay for me.

The issue with the selection of anti-mine devices in here thread seems not WAD for me. Please have a look at the video on the second post. Also some selections get lost if the Sensor window gets closed. What selections are affected changes from boat to boat, I cant find a pattern there.
