Please, for the sake of understanding:
What is this icon for?
I found out that clicking on it keeps this message open.
This can not be the only function.

It pins that particular message open until you dismiss it. Clicking again will unpin.

Thank you.
But this function is not helpful at all. All other Messages are not shown but the time-bar is tocking still down.
Why should I use that pin-button that is not looking like a needle?
Who uses it and when?

Yes, unfortunately it hides important pop ups while a message is pinned open. I only use it occasionally such as pinning the list of new civilian hulls researched so I can see it while looking through the design list and adding what I need.

I feel notifications are in general bugged to high fuck. Pardon my French. If you close that horrorshow of icons, then see that one tab has messages, click the tab, no messages. Only way to be halfway sure you're seeing notifications is if you leave the "all" tab open along with that eyesore. Even then I'm getting popups for topics I filtered off.

Granularity is still lacking, and if anything that million pixel website design you've gone for is a nightmare.

Put message filtering into a massive list in policies and let me pick whether I see incoming fleet or combat messages for e.g. cruisers or higher tonnage ships. I might want to see if a research station is getting attacked and ignore monitoring station attacks.

Leave the log with everything listed so i can have a backup without having to go into policies.

Also those "Smilies" in the post a reply box are triggering me to the ugliness of the new message system.

I also had a question mark above my head when sometimes all messages are gone, then they are back again.
Well, back in the History they are.

But when you are trying to work them down and click the first and change the tab, then go back, all are gone.
I do not get the hang of it.

I try to get the hang of it, but when i then feel it is somehow bugged ot is not working as I expect it to, I give up on it.
What I need is a intuitive easy to understand system that is working.
When it is working, I can work with it.

I do not know how it is working and I do not know if it is working as intended.
So it is very hard so say how to work with it.
I am going to work a bit with the new message system and write it in this Thread to explain it a bit better.
This might be this evening central european time.
Maybe tomorrow (2.11.24) :-)

In general, we all want less pop ups to the right.
I think, it goes into the right direction. I select one tab that is not annyoing. If I want to inform myself of something (or the numbers on the tabs tell me that there happened much),
I pause and go through them.
If then it brakes down an all is gone, I go to the History and read through it.
Therefore I have not 20 Messages where the time bar is going down (wich makes me nervous) and in the History Log I can read everythign that has happened.

I don not understand what you mean with the similies. Here in the Forum if the thread has a simley or in game the Happiness smilies (where the word one has some triangular mouth which i never have seen before)

But I am really happy that they adresses this message mess and gave us so much filter.

It is working better than before and I am sure sonn it will work as a charm!

Cheers, and have fun playing!
