Questions about Greek radars and SAMs in the 1950s

Post by Mgellis »

I'm starting to brainstorm my next Khrushchev's War scenario, and I'm running into a little trouble tracking down some information.

Does anyone know (or know how to find out) what radars were used by Greece in the 1950s? And where were they stationed? I'm thinking there might have been some older American ones (we were giving them ships, so why not radars?) like the SCR-270 or the AN/TPS-1. But I simply don't know.

If the information simply isn't available, would it be reasonable to just use existing sites like Skyros and Pelion?

In addition, does anyone know if any Nike (I think Ajax was the only model deployed before 1957) missiles deployed in Greece in the 1950s? If so, where were they based?

Thanks in advance.

Regarding the radars, there are some historical details in the link below, under Aeronautical Control System Units.

Only the now named 1st, 9th and 10th were established before the 60s.

Missiles, started in 1960.

There are a lot to browse, perhaps missed something :)
