Re: New Public Beta - v1128 Live Now!
So I guess my next question is it possible to take a 26a save and covert it to 28? Guessing not, but before committing another 20-30 hours setting up the campaign map, I thought I'd ask.

If started under 11.28 it's likely going to throw some Y or N choice boxes your way. Do you want to say yes or no to a database change?Do you want to say yes or no to PW data change, etc. If you say no then no updates to these files take place.actrade wrote: Fri Nov 08, 2024 7:07 pm So I guess my next question is it possible to take a 26a save and covert it to 28? I suppose you could do an experiment in a separate install where you set up the computer to play sides and then say yes to the choice boxes when you start your saved scenario. Then let it run for a few hours or or overnight with continous play with no pauses for anything to get a few game months in. If it doesn't crash or lockup in all that time then you're probably good. However, I'm no expert, so I'd defer to whatever a dev might say.
Re: New Public Beta - v1128 Live Now!
I would not. 26a has really (I mean really) old scripts that are also written for a different map with different bases etc.
I think the chance is high that the AI would just break & go braindead on you, notwithstanding that you would have map issues (TF's getting stuck or going through dry land).

In the new beta Kyushu is still disconnected by rail and road to the rest of Japan? This was connected in the base game and 1126 beta. Is this intentional? As previously discussed before:

First, thank you to everyone who made this happen.
not really a big deal, but just a few database issues I noticed
the following ship entries should have their ship classes listed as 202 - River British
19071
19072
19075
19076
19081

Scen001
Seems the v1128 patch notes do not mention ALL bases which changed their names in the new beta. This is what I get when I load my first turn save into Tracker, and then load my updated regions definition file which includes all previous AndyMac's new bases from his updated scen001v5
Dambulla was the only non-coastline base on Ceylon, great for developing a big airfield safe from ship bombardment.
Paingkyon was an important base in the early defense of Burma.
I guess all name changes warrant a mention in the patch notes just to avoid further confusion.

Actually, that's been on the default map since the game came out in 2009. A small corner of Antarctica's ice sheet, I guess. Easy to overlook since some of the later map mods just replaced that hex with deep ocean art. But if you press the terrain hotkey "1" it identifies as "Fs" just like the northern polar ice hexes do. Maybe that stands for frozen or Frost Shock spell I dunno know.Tanaka wrote: Fri Nov 08, 2024 9:39 pm Is this random piece of ice supposed to be here? Never noticed before...

Not something I was expecting, have to fiddle with some stuff...

I think Fs stands for Frozen (solid). The original release intended to have some seasonal ice that would become navigable in summer. That would make a channel from the Arctic Ocean all the way to Lake Baikal navigable. Since most players do not activate the Soviet Union, that channel was rarely used and deemed a river too far in subsequent updates which withdrew the seasonal ice.Platoonist wrote: Sat Nov 09, 2024 12:49 pmActually, that's been on the default map since the game came out in 2009. Interesting. It's always fascinating to hear about the intricate features that were planned for the game but ultimately ended up on the cutting room floor.BBfanboy wrote: Sat Nov 09, 2024 5:32 pm I think Fs stands for Frozen (solid). I also thought this is a bug at first. But then I looked it up and apparently Japan didn't have a road connecting Kyushu to the mainland so this is accurate. Even though the railway was built in 1942, I'm sure they can't represent railroads being built in the game so it's okay to have the small railway there in 1941.Tanaka wrote: Fri Nov 08, 2024 9:47 pm In the new beta Kyushu is still disconnected by rail and road to the rest of Japan? Actually, there's no railway connecting the islands even though a small railway is on the map. So yes, this might actually be a bug, idk.

I'm happy to observe that several elements of my mod seem to have found their way into this official scenario

Oh good! Funny how I always think of the simplest solution last.

Even if I consider use of the spacebar in game, I have no idea what this means - care to elaborate?Platoonist wrote: Sun Nov 10, 2024 2:32 pmOh good! Funny how I always think of the simplest solution last.![]()

It was an issue with his switches not working. When you haven't had to reinstate them in a while it's easy forget there needs to be one space between ..Admiral Edition.exe" and the first switch code.BBfanboy wrote: Sun Nov 10, 2024 3:08 pm Even if I consider use of the spacebar in game, I have no idea what this means - care to elaborate?
