Head to Head

Post by 83Reforger »

I want to play both sides, Japanese and American, Do I choose Head to Head?

I ask because I started a head to head game and it seems the computer took over the moves. This might be the Pearl Harbor surprise before I can make any moves? Any help is appreciated.

In PBEM or Head to Head games the Japanese side has to give their orders first. If you set H2H before starting the scenario, it should have put you at Tokyo to start giving orders for Turn 1, or revising the orders that are built into the turn already. I suspect you started the scenario and then switched to H2H.

You have to select "Head To Head" and not "Both Computer" to do what you want to do.

If you want to give orders on the first turn, you need to turn off the "Historic first turn" option.

Very interesting. How do you play vs yourself? Which HR do you impose to yourself knowing what the other you is planning and doing?

It's a good way to test a mod. Head to head with first turn surprise turned off....GP

I usually only have one HR, no moving restricted units more than one hex from their home border.

As Japan against the AI I do restrict the expansion to boardly historical range and take it easy in China. If you do something outside of this expansion the Allied AI can't cope. I also limit the use of the KB from around from the point the Allies start to attack the Solomons and restrict subs. Both of which as a human against a script are too easy.

Also as Japan I've fiddled with the research rules. Basically all aircraft under research must be researched to construction before you can change the factory. Only when the aircraft comes on line are you free to change it to anything you wish, be it new research or production of something else. I have been wondering if anyone had every tried this against a human. This isn't the same as truning off player definined upgrades as you can sill ypgrade but only after you have researched an aircraft.

I'm not sure how any of this is going to play out from 44 onwards

Only time I play head to head is if I'm testing something.
