Reccs for a new player please

Post by topeverest »

After playing WITE1 for years. years ago, and spnding time in WITW, I am now engaged in a WITE2 initial game as the red menace. While certainly not a NB for this game series, enough has changed that I am NB for this game.

A few questions:

Which Ruskie AAR's would be most informative on play strategy in 41.
Are there informative posts on the best use of the AP's in 41
What help can be offered that if I make it to 42 how i should design units and armies
Thoughts on Air strategy in 41 - 42

Many thanks!

I would strongly recommend reviewing this AAR.

For the Soviets

Well you can only use APs to build units, depots, forts or change leaders

Build units - wouldn't bother spending APs on that as most units are too expensive, and the number of units in 41 is not your problem, it is manpower. Perhaps mortar bats, which cost nothing, low in manpower and equipement is in the pool.

Depots - gradually increase the number of depots but east of the leningrad - moscow - rostov axis. Build them first on the larger railyards.

Forts - start to fortify the approaches to Leningrad and Moscow.

Change Leaders - start with Corps that rename into Armies. It is cheaper to change the leader of the former rather than the latter. Also re assign the Corp to a higher HQ whos leader has a political rating of 8 or 9. This will lower the cost as well.

Not sure that the above achieves much but it sure feels like you are doing something.
Molotov : This we did not deserve.

Foch : This is not peace. This is a 20 year armistice.

There are some helpful threads in the War Room.
The lark, signing its chirping hymn,
Soars high above the clouds;
Meanwhile, the nightingale intones
With sweet, mellifluous sounds.
Enough of Stalin, Freedom for the Ukraine !
