Road, Coastal and Position construction's

Post by shgenerolas »

Hi guys!

Perhaps someone could explain the most efficient use (and what type of HQ is best to assign) the following construction units:

1) Road construction battalion;
2) Coastal Fortress construction battalion
3) Position construction battalion.

Thanks!

Their TOEs are and their functions should be 100% the same.
I guess they should all be able to:
  • repair damaged factoies
  • build airfields
  • help with fortification building (not sure if they rly do)

I asked a similar question prior, they repair what is damaged in the hex that they are assigned. the names dont mean anything. road units dont build roads,

Yeh, I got the same impression. That's why probably Manual does not describe the different between construction battalions.

I thought that Position or Coastal Fort construction battalions reach fort levels faster. However, while playing, I didn't notice any difference from the regular construction battalions.

Construction battalions do speed up fortification level building when attached to Fortified Zones. You should attach 3 battalions to the FZ and have a combat unit in the hex as well. I recently just finished a human vs. human campaign game as Axis. I was able to create lines of level 3 forts to help absorb the Soviet onslaught in '43 and '44. It typically took 4-5 turns for a FZ with 3 construction battalions attached to get to a level 3 fort. I typically broke up Romanian and/or divisions into regiments, so each FZ had an accompanying combat regiment as well. I have found that speeds up the fortification process.
