Flashpoint Campaigns: Central Storm Coming Soon

Post by AlbertoC »

We are pleased to announce the first DLC expansion for Flashpoint Campaigns Southern Storm. Central Storm covers the front lines of the Belgian I Corps and West German III Corps. It was these two corps that covered the West German capital of Bonn from Soviet attack. With flatter terrain than we saw previously in Southern Storm, Central Storm promises front loaded battles and aggressive tactical maneuvering. With Bonn only just behind the lines it's do or die for NATO forces.

Features
• A new playable army, Belgium
• 19 new maps set in central Germany
• 18 new standalone scenarios
• Two new campaigns with a total of 11 campaign scenarios featuring the Belgian I Corps, West German 7th Panzer Division, and Soviet 57th Guards Motor Rifle Division

As part of a wider update, both the DLC and core game will be supporting two new free features.

• A brand-new ability to load leg infantry into helicopters (or trucks) to perform tactical transport on the battlefield. Fly your special forces deep into the enemy rear!
• A completely rewritten unit logging system that will provide deeper and more accessible unit information during the course of play.

Expect Central Storm and the free update later this year.

Southern Storm needs to be installed for the DLC to run.

This is exciting after having played the PBEM scenarios too many times.

I hope you are putting the air commandoes in multiplayer. One of my favorite air insertions by helicopter is in the Iran-Iraq war where the Iranians inserted lots of troops in the south to outflank the Iraqi lines.

Will this DLC also include the US V Corps (i.e. the Fulda region)?

I'm curious - I see elsewhere that you've said Central Storm will include maps/scenarios from Red Storm in the Southern Storm engine. Is that still the plan? I can't tell for certain from the announcement.

A number of Red Storm and Germany Reforged scenarios will be in Central Storm and also some future efforts. We are working on them based on what regions they fall in.

Awesome thanks! I own Red Storm, was debating Germany Reforged but with my loyalty discount now thinking Southern Storm and the hardcover manual would be even better.

Paul, there is no ETA just yet. We are working on a few things for that release that are taking longer than we thought, and we are also doing a number of updates and bug fixes for the pending 2.1.4 update in Beta right now.

The new Cold War game will include the British and Polish forces in the initial release, along with all of the rest found in Southern Storm. The Danes, Dutch, and others are planned for a later expansion, assuming the game sells well.

Sounds good!

Flashpoint is still my favourite game for modern(ish) land combat on a battalion plus scale. The command cycle set up is such a game changer compared to other games out there. I also enjoy stuff like Armored Brigade or Combat Mission.. but Flashpoint is still my go to game for a game for battalion level engagements.

The new game, is that meant to enable faster implementation of DLCs/Expansions? Does it provide a skeleton where you can relatively easily add new sections of the front with the relevant ORBATs?

I've probably missed some important news. What new Cold War game do you mean? Another in the Flashpoint Campaigns series, or something else?

We will release Flashpoint Campaigns: Cold War early in 25, which covers the entire German frontier (North, Central, and South regions).
