How good was the armour of the T64A in 1983?

How good was the armour of the T64A in 1983?

Great game BTW. Tried and company tank assault on defending US infantry 1983. Expect M72 to bounce off T64A frontally and possibly Dragons as well but they also seem to bounce of the turret sides and even TOWs seem to bounce most of the time. I know that's why they had to develop improved TOWs and then TOW2 but were US infantry THAT vulnerable in 1983? Tanks just walked straight through them.
