Wingmen on Afterburner

In the attached save file a strike mission (of 2 flights of 4 planes each) launches about 4 minutes into game. On the way to the target the leader is at cruise speed but the 3 wing men are on afterburner and doing high G maneuvers to stay with the flight leader. This is happening in both flights. Eventually the wingmen hit Bingo and RTB. Another thing I just realized is that there was no flight plan generated for the mission.

I've seen this behaviour before, but I finally have a simple save where it is repeatable.
