Unable to Launch Aircraft From Airfields

Post by AAaronson »

Hey Gang, I've got a bug here. It was happening back in October, then it stopped, but it came back today just as I was about to upload a scenario to Steam. I've included the scenario, the saved game and the logs from today here:
Soviet Endgame Seize Giebelstadt2.zip
(366.93 KiB) Downloaded 5 times
Issue: When launching Aircraft as a Group the system sets a readying time of 15 minutes. When that countdown is completed, it starts over at 15 minutes and the aircraft are not launched.
Steps to leading to the issue:
At Grossenhaim Airbase, I Have 24 Su-24s. I readied them in groups of four. Half of the Groups were kitted out with AS-7s, and the other half AS-9s. I verified that the Airfield Magazine has enough for both groups.
Once all 24 were readied, I launched them in groups of four.
All of the AS-9 Aircraft launched successfully and executed their strike.
None of the AS-7 Equipt launched. Instead when I went back, I could see they had around 15 minutes to go. Once that timer elapsed, it restarted at 15 minutes.
Notes:
This looks like the same issue that can be found here: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... s#p5193283

Let me know if you want me to shoot a video of the issue or if there's more information I can get you.

Thanks for your time,

-Alex

Oh, also... This happens in Pils too where I tried to send out some Su-17s loaded up with AA-8s.
And each airfield is a single unit airfield of sufficient runway length for the units.

Thanks,

Both (AS-7 and AA-8) are day only loadouts. Example in the pic below comparing AS-7 with AS-9. Instead of restarting, I think that there should be an indication that this is happening.

They will take off in day light.

Sweet! James is so good at projecting the future. I try to stick to the past lol. DM me your addy and I'll send you a signed copy of Book 4 if you want. That's where I picked up writing the NATO and Russian scenes (Spoiler Alert!)

Thanks! I always wanted to convert the scenarios I used to wargame my battles into playable scenarios, but between C:MO and ARMA3 they were taking up too much of my website bandwidth (as you can see, I have a very cheap ass website lol). But with the Steam Workshop, I can host them there, and then link on my site. So that's what I've been doing. More than anything I've been suffering from serious writer's block, so this give me something to stay connected.

You may also upload them here in the mods and scenarios subforum.

And also to the list for the next Community scenario pack.

Coincidently, the reason I bought Monroe Doctrine was I am half way through Soviet Endgame and Amazon recommended it. I didn't even notice you were the author.

That's cool, good to know the algorithm works lol. I'd written the first draft of Advance to Contact, and sent it to Frontline Publishing. They needed to backfill for another author who just got deployed, so I dropped in for books 4 and 5 of Monroe Doctrine. It was a great way to ease into the process.

Just a quick note. I recreated a very simple version of Ike CBG battle from Endgame. Had to make a few tweaks to align it with more realistic ESM in CMO. But otherwise it ended exactly like in the book. It just shows that your book really hits the nail on the head around Soviet capabilities outmatching NATO in some circumstances.

Here is a draft of the scenario for the Ike battle from the Soviet Endgame book. I had to take some liberties with how the CVBG is detected. I did it just for simplicity. I will eventually get around to using a satellite like in the book. But it shows its a good thing the US didn't go to war with the Soviets in 1980.

Tp make a point that only a couple years later, the US started to really flex technology muscles, I also subbed in a first gen Tico for the CGN California. Aegis makes a very big difference. By 1985, Aegis, M-1/Leo 2 tanks, F-15/F-16, etc. would have made almost an insurmountable difference in a war.

btw, I used the first sections of the relevant chapter as the side briefings for the US and Soviets. Let me know if thats OK.

Have some tweaking to do to match the book. I want to remove the bear (or at least replace it with a Bear D). I finally figured out which satellites to use. The 1980-1981 period was actually a gap in Soviet satellite coverage as they let some recon satellites decay and hadn't launched replacements until late 1981.
