Hello guys,

Long time since I looked at THE THREAD!!! At least a couple of years or so (my profile says 2021 ) and it's nice to see this is still ongoing, with all the old paraphenalia (UNPs, INPs etc) still ongoing. :D

There's even a couple of guys whose handles i remember from the old times, cheers to you (you know who you are)! To all "newcomers", welcome to THE THREAD!!! 8-)

This post is loosely aimed at Chickenboy (André) who I was supposed to play a game with when I was supposed to retire this year. If CB don't reply to this I will send it as a PM instead. Alas, I'm afraid I have to postpone the game for a little while longer. I was supposed to go into retirement on June 30th this year from my (supposedly) nice and cozy spot as the Chief Development Department at the Swedish Artillery School. However, some silly bastard in charge of our long time eastern enemy started to have delusions of imperial grandeur in 2022 which put a little wrench in my retirement plans. :(
I have moved up my retirement for two years (until 30th June 2026) and I am currently working as a military advisor to our (mostly civilian) defense material procurement agency.

André, I hope to be able to honor our game agreement in 2026. Just to let you know, I'm still planning to do a coast-to-coast trip in the USA when I have retired and hope to be able to drop by and have a couple of beers with you. I will try to combine this with (hopefully) attending to see the Indy500 en route so I guess I'm talking about 2027 (as Indy500 is always in the end of May every year, which means that 2026 wouldn't work)

Cheers, Per

To be honest, even though I eat both, I can also live without both Surstromming and Lutfisk. :D
