Playing alone

Post by bladesinger79 »

I had tried to create a scenario where I add all the factions and OOBs together, and played them for months on end. Say a war broke out in Libya, and things really went bad. I would add as much Libyan combat elements into the game against NATO/US whom I had also added in tons of stuff, and just play and play and play nonstop (saving the game that is) until the war is over. No overlapping scenarios, just one continuous campaign as I add in or delete stuff while playing in Editor in order to oversee the warring sides.

Anyone else does this? :)

Or am I in need of counseling?

Yes, this is entirely possible in theory but there may be practical limitations depending on how information is retained in the savegame file depending on the number of units added & deleted.

Sure. All the time. I don't have much time to build scenarios, etc., for at least the immediate future, so set a theater thing up and just add to it as I play. Lua helps with some randomness and cleaning up my damn mess.

I think you missed the point. He already does it. He's asking if he is completely and utterly nuts for doing it and liking it.

And no, its not nuts. I do stuff like that all the time. I build my own scenarios, run both sides, and make alterations mid-scenario just to see what happens. Its 90% of how I play.

I want to add my personal thoughts believing that are a bit relevant to the original post:
I have been always thinking about a long-term scenario where you control the armed forces of a country or a coalition.A scenario which doesn't last only a few hours or 3 days at most. I like the idea of playing the military aspect of a Civ series game(or RTS game) in a more detailed way but I don't know how feasible is that through CMO.

Its actually theoretically feasible/plausible. With logistics carefully laid out, like missile inventories, you could do it. I think the big weakness is fuel and personnel. But they are manageable with some effort.
