How do you add a Generals portrait?

Post by Tempest5 »

I found an Italian General with no picture. I would like to add it. Really stumped. I found the folder for ITA Generals but he does not appear in game when adding it to that folder.

Nice picture.

You have to go into the editor. I don't remember if it is there on the first game menu, but if you find your way into it, you need to go to the Lead menu, and there find him, and replace his graphic with the one you have, with the default "Unknown" one. Then you have to save the file. You should probably choose to make a different named one, and then load that when playing.

I looked a little at it.

It seems you load the scenario you want to edit. Then on that scenarios page there is a button called Edit. You press that to get into the editor.

Top left corner there are a bunch of buttons. Press the one called HIS.

You'll get a long list of HisUnits ID+Name

Somewhere in that list is the officer you are looking for. (I looked through them for you... go to 717, ID = 658.)

Hit the picture where my arrow points. Then put in your picture there...

Okay I did that step. (I do appreciate your help.) What do I do to save?
When I leave the that edit page to save the pix is not present? Is there a HOT Key to save? Seems there is more to do on that page to set the pix in the scenario. When I load the scenario to play there is no change.

Hey again,

Here is the process for saving.

Click on the "Map" button in the upper left box. (After making the edit). Then click on this symbol:

Then this will pop-up:

Choose a name for the Scenario you are about to save. Do not overwrite any current ones. Then save it.

Then exit the editor.

To load the scenario you just changed to play it, do this:

You will now have a modified version, and be able to play it too :)

 Nope. The only thing I did wrong last night was not hitting map button to get out to other screen to get to SAVE button. I have the game patched up all the way. Attached is the scenario I modded and the photo which is the right size, format and Generals naming (last name first]. Giovanni still doesn't show.

Here is screen shot when I open scenario in editor. His picture is saved in his slot. No need to add it by choosing his name on the list. But photo does not show on map.
I hit MAP to get screen, Choose SAVE, it SAVES ...but nothing shows.

If there is one thing I am, it is stubborn.

So I read the Manual :P And it gave me a hint.

Go to the HQ (in the HIS menu) that is supposed to contain said officer, and then Select it: It is 1139 ID=1163

Here you do as you did with the officer one. Select the picture, and then everything should be fine, and then save.
