Factory rail movement: a bug and a question

Factory rail movement: a bug and a question

Post by juntoalmar »

Hi,
In a current game, I noticed that if the USSR doesn't have any land unit capable of moving by rail, the game skips this phase completely (preventing the player from moving factories, for example). I guess this is a bug as the game should check if there are units & factories to be moved.

This being said, this has prevented me from moving a factory that is now isolated and I can't move in future impulses. Is it possible to fix this by editing the game files? I don't know how the factories are encoded and if it's possible to move it "by hand".

Thanks in advance!

Were axis units in Russia when this happened, (FREX Barbarossa had just begun)? You cannot rail a factory until an enemy unit controls a hex in your home country.

Any chance of uploading a gamesave here? Use windows to get to the saved games file and zip it, before uploading.

Not Russia.

Well, not trying to raise any polemics here, but Germans are in Ukraine which I guess is part of the home country (Soviet Union).

Odd that this bug has not been reported before. I opened your game, confirmed the problem, and then set the Moscow Militia to organized instead of disorganized. Then, after advancing the game past ground strikes, I was able to get the rail move phase and rail a factory. (Not the one in Odessa though, as the rail line is cut by the 7-5 Mech's ZoC.)

So here is a fixed game and you can continue it, just remembering not to move or rail the Moscow Militia this turn.

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately this is a couple of impulses old gamesave, that's why I asked if I could move the factories editing the gamefile.

It's a pity I didn't think of reorganizing a unit for moving the factory. It's an smart workaround.
