Refuel threshold

The majority of complaints about air refueling that I agree with is the threshold at which fighters head to refuel whether they are on a mission or not.
The problem is that for a 30% threshold fighters do not start heading to refuel when their fuel is at 30% but before, reaching the tanker sometimes with that 30% and other times with more.

In my opinion and given the wide number of thresholds that can be chosen and to avoid misunderstandings and to be able to accurately manage air refueling I think it is best to change this "logic" and when the refueling threshold is set at 30%, the fighters begin to head to refuel when they reach that 30%.



In the attachment you can see two fighters, both configured at 30% that head to refuel always long before reaching 30% of fuel remaining.

Hi Kobu, we're aware of this issue. Its in the queue to get fixed along with an overhaul of AAR in general.

IMO, the problem with that logic is that your tanker may not have enough fuel to reach the tanker with a 30% threshold. IMO the threshold should be measure regarding the bingo+reserve fuel, and have the ability to have lower thresholds (even 0% so when AC reaches bingo fuel, calculated from the distance to the available tanker, it goes to refuel), this way things would be clearer than they are now since everybody will understand how the threshold works and how it's calculated, also a way to display dynamically the different thresholds (reserve, bingo, refuel) in the fuel status bar will help a lot.

I thought about what you mentioned before opening the topic. I agree with you of more options for the thresholds, as for the rest right now both within the simulator and in the manual it is specified that when this defined threshold is reached the fighter will start looking for the tanker, so as it is now it is quite confusing.
I think this way is better since it allows more control and precision, it has the problem you mention about the distance to the tanker but in my tests with distances to the tanker of about 220nm there is not much problem of arriving with a low fuel level, besides that you can always increase the threshold if the tanker is too far away.

What is clear is that currently with this system the fighters are going to refuel with a lot of fuel and you do not know what threshold to set to get them to refuel exactly at the level you want.

Waiting to see what overhaul the new versions bring us.
