Soviet Factory Forced Evac

Post by Wiedrock »

An old Test I share due to a question in the "Quick Question Thread".

Tested City is Kharkov with its T34 factory and the evacuation to Nizhny Tagil, which is planned for T16.

Forced Evac T1
This first pic shows the comparison between a forced evacuation on T1 vs the normal vanilla (to show the delay/times to auto-evac).
It shows 37% damage [on turn 2] (I assume it is 40%damage but 3% got repaired already during logistics).
It shows a delay of 23turns. So T2+23delay=T25.

Auto Evac T16
This second Pic shows how it looks at the turn the Factory gets auto-evacuated on T16.
It shows 22% damage (I assume it is 25%damage but 3% got repaired already during logistics).
It shows a delay of 8turns. So T16+8delay=T24.

Battle Evac T8
This third pic shows the situation on T8, when Germans captured Kharkov during their T8.
It shows 97% damage (I assume it was 100% but 3% got repaired already during logistics).
It shows a delay of 15turns. So T8+15delay=T23.

So the quickest way to get the factory back on line is when it automatically relocates as per the programmed timetable or the Axis forces arrive, and not if it is manually initiated by the Soviet player?
Molotov : This we did not deserve.

Foch : This is not peace. This is a 20 year armistice.

I hoped for someone smarter than me to make a summary.
The order of things happening during Logstics/repair/production is important to makea 100% correct conclusion, that's why I did not do any.

I assume, without knowing 100% that auto evac happens after production and after that the repair happens. So a "definitvive/anyways-delay" of 8 (T24) for Auto Evac means the "same" as a delay of 15 (T23) for Battle Evac when we look at the Production (since German turn happens before Soviet Production).

Generally (as I interpret it):
What you do not want to do is to simply manually move it way earlier, since you will lose all the turns before the auto-evac date additionally to the normal delay.

Auto Evac looks good, since the damage of 25% is quickly repaired, even without Construction Units I guess. The 3% repair each turn seems to fit the delay about right.

Enemy takeover I assume will always be 100% damage and as said, hinders your production one turn earlier than auto evac (due to this it is "back up one turn earlier" I assume). And ofc as with the Manual Evac you lose additional turns before normal Evacuation Date. If we take the 3% repair/turn it would take 33turns to be fully repaired without construction SUs.

My Conclusion (as stated, not definitive due to lack of brain):
You want to have it Auto Evac to have max production and low damage (especially if you value Construction Units for Fort Construction Assistance and so on).
Only do Manual Evac if you are sure the Factory will be taken by the enemy during next enemy turn anyways.
If you manually Evac one turn too early (means earlier than the enemy would have taken it anyways) then you may actually lose more production than with Battle Evac (ignoring Factory damage for this since I don't know about repair speeds with Construction SUs and how someone values construction SUs generally).

This all could have been way easier to make a definitive statement if Battle Evac would simply get 2-3 additional turns of Delay!!!
