[WAD] What no Sea Skua missiles in the CWDB_509 database !!
I cannot find any reference to the British Royal Navy, Sea Skua missile in the
CMO Cold War database, CWDB_509 and therefore unable to use a Navy Lynx Helicopter
with a loadout of Sea Skua missile in the Scenario editor.
Also it looks like the Royal Navy Lynx HAS.3 is missing as well.
Of the missiles beginning with Sea ... in the CWDB_509 we have:
Sea Cat Mod 1
Sea Dart Mod0 -- 1975
Sea Killer Mk2
Sea Slug Mk.2 -- 1966-1991
Sea Wolf Blk 1 -- 1979
But no Sea Skua missile which is strange as it was used during the Falklands War but not
listed in the Cold War database anywhere.

Re: What no Sea Skua missiles in the CWDB_509 database !!
You seem very worked up over this!!
My understanding from a couple sources is that the Sea Skua did not enter service until early 1980s. Outside the scope of CWDB.
In fact, right from your link...
"The first launches took place in November 1979 at the Aberporth Range in Cardigan Bay. Three missiles were launched from the ground and three by helicopters. Further tests were made and in July 1981, full-scale production was ordered of the new missile, now called "Sea Skua".[3]"

The Cold War didn't end until the collapse of the Soviet Union at the end of 1991 and the Berlin Wall didn't collapse until October / November 1989 - so very much within the scope of the CWDB !!
Therefore the Falklands War in 1982 took place before the Cold War ended.
Also the CWDB databases have up to 1991 clearly marked !!!!!!!!!!

Take an actual look at how the databases are defined in CMO!!

Well for me the Cold War didn't end until 1991 - so we will have to agree to disagree on that point.thewood1 wrote: Thu Jan 30, 2025 3:43 pm Page 98 in the manual and in other multiple locations in the manual.

Unfortunately whoever inserted [WAD] in the title of my post - has started a formal complaint from me !!!
Re: [WAD] What no Sea Skua missiles in the CWDB_509 database !!
It is working exactly as its designed. In fact, there is a lot of overlap between the two dbs. The split is more around the technology than the geopolitical environment. I am not sure there is a single realistic scenario of late cold war you can't do with DB3k.
There is no disagreement to disagree on. The Sea Skua is exactly where its designed to be. You would have to justify any change by showing there is some scenario you can't do with the current design. In the end, you are arguing semantics only. You can do any realistic, time period based, scenario.

Thanks for that but I'd sure like to know who added [WAD] to the title of my Tech question - as the only assurance I'm lookingthewood1 wrote: Thu Jan 30, 2025 4:12 pm It is working exactly as its designed. for now is that forum members posts ( like myself ) don't get hacked.
Whats WAD ???
There should be no place for "name calling" or "disrespectful remarks" within brackets on this or any other forum. !!!

Re: [WAD] What no Sea Skua missiles in the CWDB_509 database !!
I'm not sure why adding "Works as designed" to the title for internal handling in a tech support forum is "name calling" or disrespectful...There should be no place for "name calling" or "disrespectful remarks" within brackets on this or any other forum.
Re: [WAD] What no Sea Skua missiles in the CWDB_509 database !!
Unfortunately WAD has other connotations, I suggest they change it to WADES.Uzabit wrote: Thu Jan 30, 2025 4:55 pmI'm not sure why adding "Works as designed" to the title for internal handling in a tech support forum is "name calling" or disrespectful...There should be no place for "name calling" or "disrespectful remarks" within brackets on this or any other forum.
Re: [WAD] What no Sea Skua missiles in the CWDB_509 database !!
I was wondering that too. I went back through to see where that might have been misinterpreted, but can't find anything that even the most thinly-skinned person would have an issue with!!
Re: [WAD] What no Sea Skua missiles in the CWDB_509 database !!
Holy Cow!! WAD is a VERY common phrase in most english languages for Worked as Designed. Its been in common use in technology quality assurance for almost 50 years.JohnWise wrote: Thu Jan 30, 2025 4:58 pmUnfortunately WAD has other connotations, I suggest they change it to WADES.Uzabit wrote: Thu Jan 30, 2025 4:55 pmI'm not sure why adding "Works as designed" to the title for internal handling in a tech support forum is "name calling" or disrespectful...There should be no place for "name calling" or "disrespectful remarks" within brackets on this or any other forum.

It's ok now - as Uzabit said WAD stands for "Works as Designed" so no harm done - I have a son who was 'victimized on social media' so I've been wary from what he went through.
Re: [WAD] What no Sea Skua missiles in the CWDB_509 database !!
So I guess you took back the "reporting" to the admins. Since the admins are the ones that put "WAD" in the title. Again, my original point is about not getting so worked up easily!!
Re: [WAD] What no Sea Skua missiles in the CWDB_509 database !!
Of course the matters all cleared up, my problem wasn't really with you - my concern was who added [WAD] to the title of my post.thewood1 wrote: Thu Jan 30, 2025 9:18 pm So I guess you took back the "reporting" to the admins. In case I'd been hacked and someone was altering the title of my posts with my userid.
Anyway Admin said the Moderator does this as a shorthand for saying the matters resolved etc, etc.
Being new to the CMO Tech forum thread - I wasn't aware of this practice by the Mods.
Re: [WAD] What no Sea Skua missiles in the CWDB_509 database !!
While not prolific, you aren't exactly new. You've been posting here, the tech support thread, for 4-5 years.
And I don't take someone accusing me of a personal attack lightly in on of the few forums I post a lot in.

infrequent poster to CMO & frankly wasn't aware of the Mods habit of changing the titles and therefore I felt I was the one
being attacked by someone who might have hacked my userid ! maybe even by the poster replying to my post.
You did come across as if you wanted to pick an argument in your initial replies !!!
For that I'm sorry but for anyone who's had their account or userids hacked in the past, it's a very unpleasant
experience !!!

Bro, you disrespected thewood1 when he was trying to help you clear up your misunderstanding, only for you to argue back that you knew everything already and everyone else was wrong.JohnWise wrote: Fri Jan 31, 2025 9:43 am I felt I was the one being attacked by someone who might have hacked my userid ! maybe even by the poster replying to my post. How did you think that was going to go?
The boogabooga doctrine for CMO: Any intentional human intervention needs to be able to completely and reliably over-ride anything that the AI is doing at any time.

As I said before ( I thought my userid was hacked ) & totally engrossed on who had added [WAD] to the title of my post, enough said & end of story !!!boogabooga wrote: Sat Feb 01, 2025 10:27 pmBro, you disrespected thewood1 when he was trying to help you clear up your misunderstanding, only for you to argue back that you knew everything already and everyone else was wrong.JohnWise wrote: Fri Jan 31, 2025 9:43 am I felt I was the one being attacked by someone who might have hacked my userid ! maybe even by the poster replying to my post.
