seeking assistance

Post by scott1393 »

I'm playing Operation Sallyport with build 1567. ever since the cargo mission feature was added i have avoided those scenarios (hats off to TBLackey great idea for a scenario) sorry i rant. I have loaded up 2 130's at Guam and i cant figure out how to get the mission editor to create a flight plan the option shows it is available but when i select it nothing happens. I would like to route my a/c's around the Russians BG not over the top. what I'm trying to find out are cargo missions flight plan able. I'm guessing i could unassign the planes from the mission and F3 them around the BG then reassign at the last minute so they will kick out the parachuters. can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

hope this makes since (it did in my mind)
thanks,
Scott

I don't think they can be used with the mission editor.

I use no nav zones for heavy SAM defenses specifically for easier routing around enemy units where I know I can't pay attention or its an allied side. There are some tricks you have to have in place to still allow attacks on those units, but its all doable if a little thought is put into all the tools available.

btw, the newish RP and zone manager box is a dream-come-true for using these techniques.

Looking at the Op Sally Port scenario save posted, even with the no nav zone method, its a hard nut to crack. The drop zone puts the 130 right in the middle of the surface group's SAM envelop. Any attempt to skirt that is most likely not going to work with a quick plan. It'll take a little bit of nuancing the mission and maybe even lua to get around that group. The other option is try to fly as low as possible on ingress and egress with a pop up to hit the drop zone.
