[FIXED][1567] Frequent game freeze
Hello,
Bug Report
Game Version: 1.07.1567.01
Subject
Game freezes for 10 seconds very often.
Description
I have been experiencing some huge lag spikes in all kind of scenario (including low complexity ones - say Battle of Latakia - but also present in bigger ones, like Caribbean Fury #1) at even the lowest time compression (1x). I can have up to 10 seconds freeze every 30 in-game seconds (at speed 1x). Usually, the task manager (Performance tab) shows a 100% CPU usage during the lag spike then back to 30-ish percent.
I tried to disable some on-screen information as well as limiting the display to "Selected Units only" without success. I have also reduced the number of layers and removed the Sentinel-2 layer.
My GPU seems to be detected properly (as shown at the top of screen).
I have had a similar issue in DCS that I can solve by playing with the core affinity (no idea if this is relevant but I tried it anyway in CMO with no success).
It seems that I do not experience more freezes when I run the game at higher time compression (even the 2 flames speed does not seem to freeze more often).
Frequency
Nearly every game. Sometimes, the lags occur less frequently but I have not been able to pinpoint a specific scenario (I have had good and bad sessions playing the same scenario).
Steps to Reproduce
No core affinity "trick"
Open CMO.
Select a scenario ("Battle of Latakia" - Standalone).
Let it play a few seconds at 1x.
Issue orders (or not).
Freezes.
With core affinity "trick"
Open CMO.
DIsable "Core 0" affinity.
Re-enable "COre 0" affinity.
Select a scenario ("Battle of Latakia" - Standalone).
Let it play a few seconds at 1x.
Issue orders (or not).
Freezes.
Attached Files
Logs of a session with multiple scenarii, including a "Battle of Latakia" causing problems.
I have had issues in multiple scenarios (including base game) just by running them.
Can provide if relevant
Specifications
Game on Steam
Fresh install performed
Windows 11
Rtx 4080
Intel 13900k
64 Gb Ram
BIOS / GPU drivers up to date
"Tacview advanced" linked but not opened in-game when the issue happens
Samsung 990 PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe™ M.2 SSD (less than 75% full)
Watercooling.
Steam and NVIDIA overlays disabled
No screen recording
DB300, DBCW and Description DB from MAtrix official page
Additional Notes
The issue may occur more frequently the longer the gaming session lasts.
I have checked with utilities that the temperature of the components (CPU and GPU) don't go over the top.
I have been playing the game on and off for a few years. This is the first time I "feel" the need to report an issue. I have had issues with higher time compression (understandably) but this is the first time I experience so much in 1x speed.
EDIT : added that I have tried to make a fresh install of the game. Added the information that I run with the DB300 and DBCW from the Matrix official Page.
Thank you for looking into this! If you need more details or test scenarios, please let me know.

Re: [1567] Game freezes every often
A scenario of mine that I built is now freezing up every time I try to play it now, too, after the latest 1567 update. It has never frozen up before. I was going to wait and try a fresh reinstall before posting a tech complaint. But perhaps, if others are having the problem, it's not on my end.
Is anyone else seeing more game freezes with the new update?

Re: [1567] Game freezes every often
I am in a similar position - I had planned to do a fresh install at some point too before narrowing it down to CMO itself. However, I'm not sure if my freezes are identical as they seem to happen on weapon impacts most often and I know that received some tweaks.Tred wrote: Sat Mar 08, 2025 4:48 pm A scenario of mine that I built is now freezing up every time I try to play it now, too, after the latest 1567 update. Re: [1567] Frequent game freeze
Has the OP tried it without setting any process affinity. I stopped doing that years ago because I found it actually caused issues and conflicts in Win11.
Re: [1567] Frequent game freeze
Hello,
Yes I have tested without messing around with the Core affinity.
Actually, I always leave it alone in CMO but I have tried it "just in case".
On a side note, Multi thread management was the reason I upgraded to Win11. So far, I have not noticed any improvement in (the only game where I had issue) DCS.
Thanks.

I have tried to reproduce the issue on both the mentioned scenarios, using B1567.6, without success.Arcuse wrote: Sat Mar 08, 2025 3:00 pm Hello,

A "hiccup" issue related to the detonation of unguided weapons has been identified and fixed, and the fix should be available in the next update (not in B1567.6).turmoil wrote: Mon Mar 10, 2025 3:06 amI am in a similar position - I had planned to do a fresh install at some point too before narrowing it down to CMO itself. Re: [1567] Game freezes every often
Ah, I've noticed this as well, mainly with unguided (dumb) ordinance detonating when zoomed in. Good to know a fix is coming!Dimitris wrote: Mon Mar 10, 2025 8:42 pmA "hiccup" issue related to the detonation of unguided weapons has been identified and fixed, and the fix should be available in the next update (not in B1567.6).turmoil wrote: Mon Mar 10, 2025 3:06 amI am in a similar position - I had planned to do a fresh install at some point too before narrowing it down to CMO itself. 2 questions :
- are there any options that I should / can enable to help you ?
- I see you are mentioning a B-version. Should I enable the beta version to test ?
Thank you
Re: [1567] Frequent game freeze
One thought: It is possible that what you are experiencing is the "unguided weapon impacts hiccup" issue which is identified and fixed for the next update. Can you try a scenario featuring only missile weapons (no guns or any other unguided ordnance) and see if the issue also appears there?Arcuse wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 11:03 am - are there any options that I should / can enable to help you ?
The "B" stands for "Build", so e.g. B1567.6 means Build 1567.6, which is currently the latest official update.- I see you are mentioning a B-version. Should I enable the beta version to test ?

I think I have had issues without any shot being fired but I will definitively try what you ask.
No access to the game this week. I'll update the thread by the end of the weekend.
Thank you.

quick update : it seems that a scenario with only "guided weapons" can run without issue. My scenario creation skill is very low but I dropped AIM-9's only planes against air targets and I didn't suffer any lag.
I will keep on paying attention when playing "better scenarios" and will check if the lag happen when an unguided weapon is fired.
I'll update this ticket if I have more to share.
Any ETA for the fix ?
Thank you.
Re: [1567] Frequent game freeze
Is there any ETA for this fix to be made available? It's infuriating trying to play a scenario with guns
Thanks
Thanks
Re: [1567] Frequent game freeze
This is currently being tested internally, and once we get the thumbs-up from The Select Few (TM) we're going to make an official release.
Re: [1567] Frequent game freeze
Thanks. That's good to hear, I appreciate the update. Have a great weekend
Re: [1567] Frequent game freeze
Good evening,
coming back with bad news : I launched the first scenario of Fail safe tonight and I experienced lags without any shot being fired.
Please find attached the logs and the save in a 7z format - can't attach the .save it seems - (I saved a few IRL seconds after the big freeze).
Thank you.

Re: [1567] Frequent game freeze
Hello,
It seems that the issue is fixed in B1706.
I took a break shortly after march.
Clean re-install today, latest DBs, B1706 downloaded.
Did not "play" but I let the Fail safe scenario 1 run for 2hr ingame at "Flame 1" speed and nothing to declare (besides a few hicups when new contacts where detected).
If I encounter another issue during a longer session, I'll let you know.
Thanks for following the topic.
