Corps or Division suport units?

Post by LordSAS »

I know support units like art can help units in battle but other than that is there a reason to keep combat support.units like artillery at the corps or army levels and not directly attached to a division?

Flexibility. Those SUs can be moved around and included more than once during battles involving attached combat units, if the SU is assigned to their Corps or Army HQ.

More than once, however, also means possibly damaged more than once. Depleted SUs are I believe automatically shuffled to SR to refit.

1. SUs can only support CU in combat if they are inside the HQ which the CU is directly assigned to.
2. Certain SU "types" can not be directly assigned to normal CUs - Artillery can't and is therefore always considered an Corps(Axis)/Army(Soviet) Asset!
