Feedback from Playing New Patch v1.06.83HFX1

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Feedback from Playing New Patch v1.06.83HFX1

Post by anthonykevinluke »

Hi to the BTR Team as always,

Firstly my continued thanks for the effort to keep this game going and work and effort that you apply to it. I have played the game on and off for about 24 years now I think! Ok some feedback on the latest patch playing as the Axis in the 1943 long campaign; current date is the 08/10/1943 with Allied score 1/2/10.
Points, thoughts and observations as follows:
  • Overall the AI plays much better at force preservation and early targeting supporting this aim.
Noting that you adjusted the AI targeting of UBoat pens down to 67% from 75% they haven't attacked them at all?
      • I think that you may consider toning down the amount of AA that is destroyed in allied attacks on aflds and radar sites. I am already running very low on 20mm Quads and 37mm guns and that takes into account that I saved every AA gun in Italy before the sites were overrun. My understanding is that most guns were disabled temporarily and crew decimated in thease attacks rather than guns destroyed.
      • I am experiencing some repeated difficulty in intercepting allied 4e bomber raids. Interceptors are up in good time, higher than the bomber stream, well rested and good morale, yet they often do not attack? My last turn a concentrated raid of some 300 + 4e with no ftr escort (they turned back just before I hit the raid) and good weather saw me intercept with 542 axis acft; a total of 46 axis acft engaged the rest flew along with the raid and flew home when bingo fuel (7 crashed during landing without damage adding insult to injury!
        • I note that the few times that I have intercepted the B17s that they seem more resilient than ever before and certainly shoot down more axis ftrs than I have previously observed.
        • Unfortunately Night fighting is a really disappointing bust and waste of time. I know you have endlessly tried to find a balance but at the moment it really takes away from what used to be a challenging and really rewarding experience when you could occasionally get 30-40 allied bombers. It would be great if you could restore a little balance in this to give the game back that wonderful experience of putting in the effort to get some reward. Again your efforts are always appreciated.
Feedback finished and thanks for hopefully considering these observations. I can provide game stats if you need them. lastly thanks again for your tireless efforts.

        Cheers,

        AKL

Hmmm, further to my previous feedback 9 out of the last 11 x B17G raids have been bombing at 30k and 31k, with an average of 72% accuracy!!! Don't think that should be working like that or bombing from that height???

The Allied AI won't be flying the heavies at that altitude, where are you getting this info? from your own Axis intel?

    Hi Simovitch,

No, info came from flying Stabs as recon at 3400ft over the incoming formations. also noted that that the me110 G2 couldn't reach them which sort of confirmed it. However, the good news is that it seemed to be an anomaly as they are now flying at 21-23k again. Anyway, playing on as always. Thinking that I will change all Night fighter production to day as it seems a waste of resources, especially engines. I understand even the newer radars on the NFTRs don't make much difference? As always thank you for the feedback and continued support.

    Cheers,
