How to model Mobilization

Post by FellingerXZ »

Hello im creating an Armenia vs Azerbaijan scenario set in 2025. And i want to model Armenias problem with understrength formations. My idea is Armenian forces start with 1/3 of their original forces (basically most battalions have 1 company out of 3 but they fill after a turn or two with mobilization. How can i model that?, im thinking of doing something with increased replacements for infantry squads, then that stopping once mobilization is done. If anyone got any ideas please share them

There was once a webpage that detailed how replacements and reconstitution worked but it has evidently been taken down. I have all of the parts of that webpage but I wouldn't want to post something I have no rights to. I know it would help and maybe if you tried contacting hornirl at gmail dot com. Assuming that email addy still works. On the forum he is General Staff. Or used to be.

If duct tape doesn't fix it then you are not using enough duct tape.

You can create replacement units, scheduled to never arrive, that you then disband by event on the desired turns.

Sounds as though your scenario starts with units that have minimal manning and are filled out with reserves after hostilities begin. If so, you might find the tutorial helpful.

Note the example is simple and only addresses one equipment type (Rifle Squad). The steps shown can be used for all equipment types used in the scenario.

For the example I only entered 6 for the starting number of replacements. Naturally for your scenario you will need to add up the number of squads needed and enter the appropriate number of starting replacements.

As an alternative method of defining unit manning, you might start the scenario with 4 of 4 veteran rifle squads manning the unit and the remaining squads as reservists with 0 of 8 present at the start. The reservists would be something other than Rifle Squads; they could be a custom equipment type or something such as Light Rifle Squads.

They are dumped into the replacement pools. From there, they can go into any units that are short of that equipment.

Use a different Inf Sq from the one that represents the initial 1/3, start it with 0 then give it replacements during the mobilization turns.
