looking for help on the 1/3 rule

Post by scott1393 »

hi all, I'm on 1567.6 and still playing operation sallyport 2029. I have a support mission set up called "tanker American bg". i have 2 kc-30's out of raaf Amberley on the east coast and 1 kc-135r out of raaf Tindal in the northwest of Australia assigned as tankers. All have been configured for tanker ops.
when i activate the mission the 135 takes off and 1 of the kc-30's also. I've tried with the mission editor checking the 1/3 rule also tried with it unchecked but with try to keep 1 unit on station and I've tried with 0 units also.
Is there a way to say "don't care your type of a/c i just want 1 of you on station at a time"

I'm thinking maybe you cannot mix and match different types of a/c's.

I have scoured this forum and also the user's manual. No luck. I've attached a save if someone would like to see what I'm facing.

thanks for the time
scott

Using the 1/3 rule or setting the number to maintain on station is based on the aircraft model. So even though you have three tankers the mission is going to try and keep 1 KC-30 and 1 KC'135 airborne. You currently can't say just keep 1 tanker airborne.

Alternatively you can set up a duplicate mission for the 135 and not activate it until you need to relieve that 2nd KC-30. Or you could keep the 135 off the mission and only assign it to the mission when you need it.
