Looking for information on German infantry unit

Post by Berghof »

Hi. Been trying to find historical information about the German infantry unit labelled as the "I Frontier Corps" and have come up with a big goose egg. No OOB that I have found mentions this unit. Does it refer to one of the "Heeresdienststellen" (border guard units)? That's the closest I've got to a clue. Any information about the composition or history of the unit would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

The unit is deployed for Germany in Strategic Command WWII: War in Europe. I'm trying to find information about the real-life unit, but I haven't found it in any orders of battle or descriptions of German Wehrmacht units.

It seems to have consisted of the 207th security division and a few other border elements. As a rather weak and informal "corps" it was eventually renamed and then probably disbanded upon the conclusion of Case White.

Yes. Thank you. I was on that page but then wasn't sure which category would be best for my question. I thought this page was still specific to the Strategic Command: WWII War in Europe game.

Thank you very much. This is just what I was after--and even got a military map, to boot! Great stuff! May I ask what the sources of this data are? I have found a number of good ones online but am always interested in exploring new ones.

Hyperwar: Operations in Poland. The section relating to the I Frontier Corps is on page 114 under the heading Gdynia and Hela.

Hi Schlonz,

This site has come up in the results of some of my searches. I'm sure it's a good one. Unfortunately, my knowledge of German is not nearly as good--just above zero, in fact. I thank you kindly just the same. Ich danke Ihnen vielmals!

Gerne geschehen :-)

You can copy and paste the content to Deepl, for example. Those online translators tend to struggle with military jargon,
but the Deepl translation was good and reasonable (at least the text section I've tested).
