Accelerating and/or stopping ship construction

Post by Mike McCreery »

I am playing scenario 2 against a human opponent. The game is set to non-historical start so I am working on day 1.

One of the things recommended to do is to halt some ship production, and accelerate others.

I have looked everywhere I can think of in game and I cannot find a screen where these ships are listed. Is this something that is unavailable on turn 1?

Otherwise, where can I find the page to edit the individual ship production for the Japanese in the game.

Feels like I am missing something obvious which would not be a surprise. Thanks in advance.

IIRC due to the possible variable arrival times for ships (+/-30 days max depending upon your selection at the start of the game) the arrival times will not appear until after turn one.

It isn't there until turn 1 is run, for the reason Dr. Hal stated. There may be some other things that populate on Turn 1, like some random leaders.

the options as to what you do with ship availability are MANY.... it does rest upon your war aims and style. I have some advice but don't want to share here. PM me if interested..... Hal

I am going conservative based on Kull's recommendations. Shutting off almost all AK's and then only turning back on the ones currently building and 30-40 more larger ones over the course of the war.

Also shutting off many of the smaller tankers.

Shutting down production of one CV and accelerating 3 others based on the guidelines.

Trying to be really efficient with fuel usage and more ships = more fuel cost.

OTOH, putting all your oil/fuel deliveries into a single large tanker instead of several smaller ones is risky when US subs are patrolling the seas ...

I left 50 of the large ones building through the war. If I do not have reduced tanker needs in 1945 and 1946 then the game has been won by the Japanese. Thinking along the lines that by that time the ships will largely be sitting in port as the SRA should have been lost before that.

OTOH, having large ships means less convoys and thus more escorts per convoy plus more efficient fuel usage.
