IMO best tactical turn based WW2 game so far

Post by JamesHunt »

I played them all, all titles from the early 70s (Firefight, Kampfgruppe) to these days.

WDS/JTS Squad Battles,
LnL
Valor
Battle Academy
HQs
Second Front
COMBAT!
Ambush!
Panzer
All Steel Panthers
etc etc etc

Despite its barebone technical aspect Tigers on the Hunt is so far the best, no wonder it is inspired by 50 years of refined knowledge including soldiers, officers that participated in this conflict.

Too bad that we can´t go beyond Starter Kit yet, getting the entire rules into a game like this would be a dream come true.

Hi James,

I personally feel, that you are too kind/too generous with your assessment. All I really had in mind, when I was working on TotH, was it to share with with the world. Growing up in Europe, my grand parents lived through WW2. Since I was a kid, my passion was reading about WW2, to reading about the military technology. To be able to work on a game and being able to finish it/publish it, it was my lifetime dream come true. Of course, I had a lot of help from dear friends like Jorgen Holmquist, Roger Keating and others, I did the programming and design, Jorgen helped with testing, game design, did all scenarios and campaigns. Roger Keating (from SSG game company), is my mentor, someone I look up to, he helped with game design. Most of game development was done between job contracts, and additionality in my spare time; I'm self employed. A lot of times, I would come back from my day job and then worked on the game late in the of evenings.

Cheers,

Peter
