1.3.0.3 - Universe has almost non-stop viruses

Post by scotten_usa »

Is this working as designed?

I have the cures for 2 of viruses but they continue to hit my empire (along with another one that I do not have the cure for). I feel like it's nearly constant and can't believe this is expected behavior. Thanks.

Are you seeing this happening across several playthroughs? It's possible that it's bad luck at play.

Plague cures don't necessarily make you immune to them - it makes it more likely that you will cure them quickly. It's possible that you're getting hit with plagues from other empires that bounce back to yours, since they may not necessarily have researched their own cure yet.

I've seen this across multiple playthroughs. It usually starts by a plague hitting my homeworld before I have a second colony. The pop ups I get have it starting in my empire and spreading. In my last game it was predominately Merturov over and over again. I finally have Murturov plague cure and Advanced Medical Systems, which are 2 whole tiers ahead of the rest of my technologies. I also just the Constitution Crystal before I abandoned the playthrough.

Only 1 playthrough (so far). I am deep into my Gizurean game and reluctant to restart :)

If you have some saves from your playthroughs clearly showing this plague behavior, please share them with us and we can take a look.

I've posted a single save above, but here are several more. I'm sure if you run the game forward from any of these you will see the behavior. I do not remember this from older versions.

New game stared in 1.3.0.4

Genetic Scrambling Syndrome hits my homeworld before I have finished Early Warp Field Experiments.

This is a T4 tech when I am pre warp T0

Based on past games, this will be a "non stop virus" game that will cripple my pop growth and ruin my game.

When it ended it had killed almost 10% of my population (homeworld is now at 1853m, down from 2000k and a bit)

Here is the save.

Continuation of above: Just built my 1st colony ship, hit with Dekara Virus (second so far)

Neighbor AI empire is too close (I can see it impinging on my homeworld influence = too close)

Ragequitting / restarting

There are a ton of saves here. Are there any particular ones you would highlight the issue?

Have you seen this commonly occurring in your games?

They're all from the same game and it happened during the entire game --- any of these should contain the virus-prone universe.

One time in 3 I'd say.

Here is another, with the Dekara virus hitting my homeworld before I left my home system, and then 12 minutes later after I have just left my home system.
