No email program associated...

Post by Tycho »

I grabbed a .gam file from one of the AARs on this site thinking it would be fun to take a look at and maybe poke some counters around. When I go to load it I get "No email program associated. Please install an email program…". I'm not sure what that's talking about(installing an old version of Outlook? That seems a little too strange). Is this not a save file that anyone outside the game can see? I'm lost...

Maybe they are using PbEm and so the game asks you for an email because that is the configuration?

I have seen that message when there's crash in the program and it wants to send a Bugreport to the developer. Look in your World in Flames folder and see if you have a "Bugreport.txt" file. If you have one, you can open it with Notepad and see near the top if it's from a recent date.

In normal operation there's no need to email anything, however if the file you loaded is a Netplay file, then you can't use it that way and may get error messages because the game will try to connect to the NetPlay forum. Netplay files begin with "NP-". They will not work for your purpose.

Or, it may be the file you loaded is not compatible with the program version you have, or there's a problem with the file. That could trigger a Bug report.

Try a different game file. If it keeps happening, try re-installing the game.

No idea what the request for an email program is, unless of course, it is the bug thing that Paul mentioned.

If the save is from "our" AAR thread then no email question should occur. However, a question for a specific map view or something like that might happen and that should just be clicked past.
