Looking for an experienced opponent.

Post by Cpuncher »

Hi,

Coming back after a couple years of absence. How is everyone doing? What's going on with the ELO rignt now? Where to see its most recent rankings?

Looking for a good opponent who won't ghost me or resign too easierly. ELO or not.

I'd try Allies 1st, and hopefully can play at least into 1943.

Not sure if either Taifun or I can find some time to AAR.

Checking my records, my last game was played in 2021. It seems there has been quite some changes to the game since. Most of them good, but SS can now cruise with no loss of supply? That's way overdone.

Well, so far Taifun just conquered France in July of 40, and the Brits have lost like 70% of her land units, 30% air...Ouch!

What about the TRP mod?

It looks intimidating to me. It will take me quite some time to learn.

Haha just some screenshots at the end or small updates like these will be good too! But yeah, no pressure. Enjoy the game first

Does sound brutal! You sent the whole Brit empire to defend in France?

Yes, it is a bit intimidating. But as a player who has been a bit on-off with the base game, I found it easier to learn. I felt the base game on ELO-level was very much about how to take advantage of knowledge about when which units would pop up where, and then stand in position to kill them, or knowing exactly where to stand in China not to trigger American war readiness to early. While I admired the developers aim to make a perfect game balance, playing competitive games was difficult without knowing scrips, events and triggers by heart.

In TRP you build almost all units from scratch. It feels more like home. Community needs more of the good old ELO players though!

Personally after playing the TRP mod, the scale etc is great but there are so many bad flaws in game play that are unrealistic. I have played 2 different versions but wont play again.

Just scrolled thru TRP thread. Looks like an absolute monster.
Trying to figure out what TRP stands for? (Total Raw Production?)
Way over my head, I'm too old to learn new things.
Would take me 2 weeks just to read the thread.
Think I'm ready for the Glue Factory, but prefer Rapture .

Got 1 game of SC-WaW going.
Been looking at Forge of Freedom, cannot figure that out, moving the pieces well.
Been playing bunch of games on BoardGameArena.
Slaps issued: Patton: 9, Dana White: 2, Batman 3, Samson 1, Medals awarded out: 5, warnings received: 11, suspensions served: 4, riots: 2.

Well tastes differ I guess, for my part I find it way more realistic. More space for maneuver warfare and much better naval combat, a really great map with a lot of attention to historical detail, and less driven from events with free units (although they still exist). Some aspects you have to get used to if you played the base game, especially the way airpower and artillery works, where there are considerable differences. But this is the best Strategic command experience I have had, and I have been there since the first demo of Strategic command 1 was released.
