Souped-up Japanese scenario

Post by Hartley »

Anyone made something like this ?

Or do I have to delve into the editor ? [&:]

I'm thinking in the same vein as scenario 17, only making Japan stronger and more capable of fighting into '43.

Try scenario 19, from Matrix. Gives the IJ side more stuff and better pilot training for replacements.

I've gone trough all the orginal scenarios.

So I have an editor question - Land units have a 'Port' value that seems to vary between types - Base Forces have 1, Construction battalions are 2 and so on.
What exactly is this value ?

I have modified scenario 19 in favor of the Japanese.

I’m about half way through play testing.

The Japanese landed at Port Moresby. They kept up a steady flow of troops into the area. The only thing that saved Port Moresby were DDs (used as fast transports) and C47s. If I remember right, the battle lasted for two weeks.

In previous games by the time I got Marine Corsirs there wasn’t anything for them to shoot down.

Hi,

A good way to play a more challenging long game as the allies is to play the first 2 months as the japanese, ensuring you don't over extend your supply lines(making them harder to defeat) , then swap over and finish the game as the allies.
The last time I did this as the japanese I managed to sink all the early allied CV's, a lot of CA's and transports , capture Gili Gili, Lunga, Luganville and land on New Cal. Then as the allies I had to wait for the Essex before going on the offensive , makes for a more interesting mid to long game.

Hartley,

For Land Units 'Port' is used to flag the nationality of the unit as follows:

0 = none
1 = IJ Army
2 = IJ Navy
3 = unknown
4 = US Navy
5 = US Army
6 = US Marines
7 = Australian
8 = New Zealand
9 = British
10 = French
11 = Dutch
12 = Chinese

When I think of it, I've actually never finished any other than scen 1 against the AI [8|]
It just can't compare to playing UV pbem....

Remember that I used to take the 'switch side' approach when playing War in Russia! After crushing the Germans in 1941-42, I would take over the sorry remains and reorganize the mess. Most interesting game I ever had!
