[RESOLVED] Can not update v 1.08.1662 to v 1.08.1674

[RESOLVED] Can not update v 1.08.1662 to v 1.08.1674
I do not use Steam. I run CMO standalone in Win 11 Pro 64bit on a new-ish Alienware box.
My current version of CMO is v 1.08.1662 (screenshot attached) I downloaded CMO-MultiUpdateComp-v1.08.1674.zip from http://ftp.us.matrixgames.com/pub/Comma ... perations/
File size: 9.50 GB (10,208,338,572 bytes)
I extracted the zip contents to a folder, and got 5 files. The principal file was CMO-MultiUpdateComp-v1.08.1674.exe
File size 1.95 GB (2,097,163,536 bytes)
I execute the update and get the welcome (screenshot attached) I proceed and get the error box (screenshot attached) The box tells me I need to be running 1674 BEFORE i can update to 1674.
Can you please help me update to 1674?
(ultimately, I wish to get to 1706 Beta)
Thank you for your time.

Re: Can not update v 1.08.1662 to v 1.08.1674
Try extracting the beta 1674 in your CMO folder before applying the patch.
This was the link posted by Dimitris.
https://www.mediafire.com/file/ueqtrzjc ... 74.7z/file
The official patch version is 1676 despite the name.

Re: Can not update v 1.08.1662 to v 1.08.1674
ACKKK!! I found the beta 1674 at the mediafire link, and installed it. CMO now says:
v 1.08 - Build 1674 (no screenshot -- but I can make one if you need it). OK.
So I reran the CMO-MultiUpdateComp-v1.08.1674.exe package from Matrix FTP site and I get the *same* pair of screens above. Yes, "Version Too Low" -- and I am now at beta 1674
I thought your idea was great, but it still won't let me get to 1674/1676.

Re: Can not update v 1.08.1662 to v 1.08.1674
Strange, I installed the official patch without problems from that beta 1674.
And why should it request 1.08 if it is a comprehensive patch? Should update from the previous setup, 1.05 IIRC.

Re: Can not update v 1.08.1662 to v 1.08.1674
Nikel, I know exactly what you mean. I was dumbstruck when I got the error window. A comprehensive update should go way, way back. This is like a comp update for year 2026...
The first question is where does the installer look for the version data? I can provide a file from my install if you can identify it. But I did see version advance as expected when I applied the update from Mediafire that you suggested. And, as you point out, the installer should be happy with somewhat old versions.
I did supply the source (Matrix FTP) and the file sizes. Can there be more than one version of the comprehensive update floating around?
That error window is impossible.
Befuddled.

Re: Can not update v 1.08.1662 to v 1.08.1674
The patch looks for the version data in the Windows registry.
But I would not mess with it unless you know what you are doing.
What was the last official/comprehensive patch you installed, before beta 1662?

Re: Can not update v 1.08.1662 to v 1.08.1674
As near as I can recollect from my backup files......
I did NOT apply the v1.08.1645 beta Comp update. That was because I didn't want to go thru a .jpg to .webp conversion.
So I think it was CMO-MultiUpdateComp-v1.07.1567.06.exe sometime on or after March 12, 2025.
I can do a registry look. I know enough to know to not change a field, and to not apply the change.
That brings up a point, though. Can there be more that one registry field that holds version, or has the registry field been relocated in the hierarchies?
I can look if you can specify.

Re: Can not update v 1.08.1662 to v 1.08.1674
Asked because perhaps the patch was missing 1.07 update (even though was requesting 1.08)
In this link it was posted a CMO registry cleaner.
https://forums.matrixgames.com/viewtopi ... 8#p5208898
DO NOT RUN IT.
It is to solve another problem, when you delete CMO manually instead of uninstalling and cannot reinstall.
But if you open it with Notepad you will see where the info is located in the registry.

Re: Can not update v 1.08.1662 to v 1.08.1674
I located the link, found the 3 registry paths. I opened regedit, and exported my current registry as a backup--because you *always* want to be safe around dynamite.
For: ...\Matrix Games\Command Modern Operations]
installed REG_SZ TRUE
version REG_SZ 1.07.1567.06
For: ...\Uninstall\Command: Modern Operations]
DisplayVersion REG_SZ 1.07.1567.06
for: ...\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Steam App 1076160]
various info with:
NoRepair dword 00000001
NoModify dword 00000001
I saw no indication of a version field in this third tree.
(I should mention I also have a Steam install of CMO, but I VERY RARELY use it, and those files are located in a different file directory tree for Steam. Those other trees are correctly reported in the ...\Steam App... Regedit info)
Note the versions above are 1.07.1567.06. I see no reflection of my install of 1.08.1662, or beta 1674 -- but those are beta and that may well be WAD. As I mentioned before, I did not install CMO-BetaUpdateComp-v1.08.1645.
I don't see evidence of registry corruption. Ideas?

Re: Can not update v 1.08.1662 to v 1.08.1674
You were right with your last patch installed.
Beta patches are not installed, they are extracted in the folder, so do not change the registry.
I guess the Reg Cleaner is for Matrix version, so the steam line is irrelevant.
Out of ideas here. Except the pain of complete uninstall, downloading a lot of GBs and reinstall.
There is a new installer 1.08.1674, should not request anything

Re: Can not update v 1.08.1662 to v 1.08.1674
As a P.S.
If the patch checks the registry for version data, then it seems that a Comprehensive patch should be able to cycle back to 1.07.1567.06

Re: Can not update v 1.08.1662 to v 1.08.1674
I can do a complete uninstall/reinstall. Does that mean I need to reinstall all my DLC, too?
Re: Can not update v 1.08.1662 to v 1.08.1674
I guess so
Perhaps you should wait for more answers, because it will take a lot of time.

Re: Can not update v 1.08.1662 to v 1.08.1674
I can reply to the status on two levels.
On a personal basis, it became clear that there was no way I could use:
CMO-MultiUpdateComp-v1.08.1674.zip from http://ftp.us.matrixgames.com/
File size: 9.50 GB (10,208,338,572 bytes),
to update my Win11 installation. Nikel tried to help, bless him.
So, I did a complete deinstall, and then a fresh install from :
CMO-MultiSetup-v1.08.1674-76.zip downloaded from Matrix MY PAGE
file size: 22.4 GB (24,099,478,415 bytes).
I reported this in another thread:
https://forums.matrixgames.com/viewtopic.php?t=412124
I am now running CMO beta patched to Build 1706 with my DLCs installed. I am OK.
On a broader basis, my difficulty was also encountered by:
https://www.reddit.com/r/CMANO/comments ... t/n3nhnw8/
General_Totenkoft judges the installer as bugged. It seems the 1674 updater
should not require a minimum version of 1674 before proceeding to update
an older CMO version to 1674.
The current Matrix FTP comprehensive 1674 updater name and file size *does*
match the updater file (above) I had problems with. This would seem to
indicate that others may encounter this updater issue.
Thank you for your concern.
