Unit Sound FX option in Preferences menu has no effect

Unit Sound FX option in Preferences menu has no effect

The Unit Sound FX option doesn't change anything, the battle sounds are always the same volume even if set lower or to 0.

I don't know how to fix this, so any help would be appreciated.
