RTB behaviour (1706 beta)

Post by terry1040 »

I use the ATO/Flight Planner a lot, basically in most scenarios I am trying to highly automate my missions.

What I noticed is, that once a flight is RTB (by Bingo or Winchester or Manual interaction), it tends to ignore the return legs of the flightplans and might switch to a rather direct route, especially when they are on LONG-RANGE Missions that require a refueling on the return leg. It seems to happen more, when those planes are on patrol missions On Station, maybe prosecuting some enemy flights.

What I would expect is, that those flights fly back to their end-of-station waypoint an then continue with RTB following the further flightplan waypoint-by-waipoint (refuelling as needed on their way back with any tankers close-by) until they finally reach their homebase.

One can of course unassign the aircraft from the missionn and then manually enforce a certain return behaviour, but is that micromanagement that I would like to avoid. It is also not easy to spot RTB flight when the screen is very busy.

How can one ensure, that RTB flights continue to follow their original return legs?

Cheers
Terry

Can you please post a save file (you'll need to zip the file to upload it) of one mission with this behaviour happening?
