Rising Sun crashes consistently

Post by stransky43 »

Hi all...

Whenever I play the Rising Sun scenario, "The Main Event", and take the Japanese side (American is computer with fog-of-war), it always crashes toward the end of the American 4th turn. No optional rules are being used and I have tried this on several computers. It happens with versions 2.0 and 2.02.

I have spent many, many hours playing other scenarios in Rising Sun, East Front and West Front with no issues at all.

I had hoped that the 2.03 update would take care of this, but just installed it and it hasn't. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Can you send me your files just before the crash?

What files do you need? Just the battle.btl or something else?

Thanks!

Just the btl should be enough for a starting point.

When I try to drag and drop the battle.btl file to the message window, I get the message "Invalid file extension: battle.btl"

Is there another file I could attach?

Try zipping the file? See if that works?

Well, I can replicate the crash for this scenario.

It is interesting that if I make both sides manual, I can end the turn without issue for a handful of turns.

This leads me to believe why the scenario is designed to be played from the Allied side, as I think what is happening is that there is congestion on the beach that the AI can't cope with and gets stuck in a loop and crashes.

Thanks for confirming Jason.

You've given me a hint however, as I think you might be right about the AI struggling with the beach congestion. I am going to play both sides for a turn or so, just to get the beaches cleared of troops and transports. And then switch back to Allied AI control and see what happens.

Thanks!

I tried playing the both the Japanese and Allies manually for the 4th and 5th turns. This allowed me to clear out the beaches fully. I am now back to Allied AI and it is working perfectly.

Thanks for the tip, it worked!
