Thus, when it comes to physical penalties, Saipan and Tinian can be built up to size 7, Guam to size 8 (vanilla map).

Most just seem accept over-stacking penalties. E.g. Guam hand handle 96 B-29s without penalties...and that is not a lot.

But penalties of over-stacking are not that severe: An overstacked airfield affects how many aircraft can be launched, casualties from attacks and aircraft repairs.

Of course if IJN comes to bombard with Yamato and Musashi etc...you'd suffer heavy losses. 8-)

Yeah, I was just playing around and discovered that. If i do everything I can to remove the overstack penalty I can get about 100 b29s flying without penalty. What I might do to help mitigate things is set all my groups to 50 percent rest and launch the rest on daily missions. Hopefully that helps with airframe fatigue as well as pilot fatigue.

Mind you, thats not all that air HQs do and its well worth it to have the HQ present to give other bonuses.

Important change to land based torpedo supply and a minor change to factory production rates. See first post.

Chris21wen, since this thread isn't a sticky, it gest buried with time.

I wanted to re-download your pdf guide, but I forgot WHO had written it.
Then I found your pdf guide on my computer, but the guide itself didn't have an author!

Please, just slap "... by Chris21wen" on the first page of your pdf guide.

Flurry of activeity and yet another change.

There's a recent post on pilot replacement problem. I can't reproduce the problem but I did find the need for clarifications and something I did not know on pilot replacements.

The main change is that only the Japaneses can use trainee pilots. For the Allies, if they empty the replacement pool they can draw no further replacement for that month. If the Japanese run out they will then start to draw untrained pilots from the trainee pilots starting at the most experienced.

More stuff

More tips stuff on pilot training specifically on-the-the job. Basically no fly, no train. No train, no gain.

R&D factories. Originally I thought you always had one days grace between an R&D converting into a production factory once the due date was reached. This appear to be incorrect. In a recent game I had two A6M5 R&D factories go diretly too production thus preventing me researching the 5b. Turns out that it's to do with the number of R&D points generated each turn. In this case it was 4 with engine bonus. Once I reduced it to 2 pts I got one days grace.

No fly-no train is not entirely accurate. Lower level pilots do train even when there are not enough aircraft for them to fly in. This is confirmed by operational flying where some pilots have increases in their mission count (e.g. CAP) while others without having an increase in mission get an increase in skill level that day.

Think "ground school", either formal or discussions with more experienced pilots complete with hand dogfights to show what maneuvers can be used. As skill levels increase it is much harder to accumulate enough points in "ground school" to increase the level. But points are accumulating and they get added to the points from missions or in-aircraft training to bring the next level a bit faster.

Not sure if non-flying pilots operating a beer tap at the bar counts as a skill or experience - but it counts towards morale!

+1, especially if there was a nurse with the beer!

I have had pilots train when the air units were loaded as cargo on a ship. They didn't learn fast but they did learn.

I forgot that point but it's not what i mwant. By none fly I probably should have said those set to rest and those in reserve.

It appears that missions are run in order of the groups in the database starting with the lowest ref, any group on the same mission is included and ran at the same time.

This is apparent by including a marine unit on sweep, that will drag USAAF units along.
