Allied supply in the Caucasus

Post by Taifun »

Incredible but true. My opponent in our current game has managed to move significant amounts of allied units through Iran and the Caucasus and keep them well supplied to Rostov. This strategy has completely dismantled the German plan in Russia. After losing Baku and all the oil wells, my opponent was able to move and supply all these troops that, along with 3 strategic bombers, recaptured all the oil wells and the Caucasus, and now threaten Rostov and the entire southern flank of the German army group in Russia. I still don't understand how he has achieved this, brilliant! Perhaps someone can explain to me how he accomplished this milestone. I don't think the game is designed for allied troops to operate in Russia since Stalin would never have allowed allied troops to be deployed in Russia.

In this picture, the British HQ is giving 8 supply!

They can’t operate, but they receive maximum 3 supply from settlements. So if your logistics tech is high enough (I think you need lvl 5, but maybe 4 works), you can get 8 supply from hq.

Judging by your tank tech, it’s end 42 or early 43? So UK can easily have lvl 5 if they prioritized double chitting logistics and got one or two breakthroughs.

But considering the amount of units that are there, UK is be vulnerable elsewhere maybe?

But yeah this reinforces my idea that axis must take Egypt and the middle east to have a shot at winning the game.

The Screenshot is too small to determine where the supply might exactly come from.
Nonetheless to my understanding the British HQ must receive at least 1 supply from a friendly HQ outside of Russia.
That would allow for an 8

I tried similar stuff in WiE but although (with Double HQ) the units had sufficient supply at Baku I could neither reinforce nor upgrade them.
So that was rather pointless. I wonder whether your opponent is able to reinforce the units at Rostov.

Also logistics tech does not help with boosting. I tried that as well in WiE on the way to Perm.
Once both HQs have zero supply from the map, no one gets a boost. Logistics 5 does not change that.

I tested it in WaW not too long ago, though from Allied side, and Russian units in for example China or India get max 3 supply from a normal settlement. So they can go 2 hexes outside that settlement at lvl 5 to still get enough supply to boost the next one as far as I am aware.

Idk about upgrading or reinforcing though. If you are indeed unable to reinforce, that would make this kind of move much weaker but I doubt this force could make a push from the Caucasus with almost all units remaining at 10 strength

Iraq is in UK hands, Persia is Soviet, and Afghanistan is Indian. I think he is using at least 5/6 HQ to supply the British and Indian HQs, and that he implemented a chain of HQs from Afghanistan and Iraq, but how exactly this is working is unknown to me.
