Feedback from V1.06.83 including Hotfix - Comments and Issues

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Feedback from V1.06.83 including Hotfix - Comments and Issues

Post by anthonykevinluke »

Hi All,

Playing as Axis vs Allied AI long campaign, version as above. Current game date 26th Feb 1944.

OK; in summary day fighting in Western Europe has been greatly improved with the work the team has done on the game. It has taken me until this date to break the backbone of the 8thAF (see losses below). Night fighting is still pretty hopeless and I would recommend anyone playing as the Axis to just build 5 or 6 x JU88 C6 and change all other night fighter production to day acft (especially research for FW190D, TA152, and ME262). I have at this point FW190D arriving 3/1944, TA152H in 8/44, and ME262A in 7/44. since it is late Feb I expect I will get TA152 and ME 262 to arrive a month or two earlier than noted as research continues.

Serious problem with Southern forces. 15th AF has not yet flown a mission that I can see. The only 4E raids have been by the original 3 x B17F gps and 2 x B24J gps. No mediums have flown in the entire south for months except for the Baltimores and Bostons from the RAF.

Game score - 2/0/16

Significant Allied losses -
  • B24J - 2021
    B17F - 1804
    B17G - 2216
    Total allied losses - 14,512
Total Axis losses - 2789

Happy to provide more detail on any aspect of the game and the way I have played it if anyone wants it.

Regards and special thanks to the team keeping this game going,

Cheers, AKL

I'm interested to know what planes you're using.

You also mention "(especially research for FW190D, TA152, and ME262)". You only gain research from 10 prototype airframes supposedly, so are you meaning you're actually doing more than 10 prototypes?
It seems like you pulled forward these airframes quite a fair bit forward.

Hi Cones2002,

On day 1 of the Long Campaign convert all the small acft engine factories ( the 1,2,3, and a few 4 capacity) to producing about 12 to 14 of the engine types you will need for; firstly the ME109G5 AS, then the 213A engine for the FW190D, the 213E engine for the TA152H, as many as I can afford for the ME262A - for the 262 I think I was only turning out enough engines to make about 5 prototypes until I started to convert some AS engines when I had researched the 109G5 AS. I get rid of all 2E day fighters except the ME410A and turn out 8 of those a day after changing some production around, I only produce 6 x JU88C-6 night fighters and convert all the other NFTRs (engines, Assemblies; and parts to building the acft noted above for research) to prototype stuff. The JU88 is the best NFTR based on firepower and endurance, and noting that night fighting is practically useless at this point that is fine. The best NFTR intercepts you'll get is for raids on Berlin and Hamburg where your acft can follow the stream for a long time and allies suffer lots of flak damaged acft. I do research about 4 x JU88G to replace the JU88C-6 later. I also reduce ME109 G6 to about 30 straight off and steadily reduce that as the G5 AS comes in; and when your pool is over 5-600 G6 you can upgrade the garbage acft used by your allies and training Gps.

I am at 28 Feb 44 and the FW190D is available in Mar 44, the TA152H Sep 44 but research at 92% for next step, ME262A Jul 44 and research at 62%. The key is to make sure you are turning out at least 12 of each prototype (except the 262) as fast as possible.

Sorry for rushed answer. But can provide more detail if needed.

Cheers,

AKL

Why 12 prototypes?
And is that 12 per day or 12 all up?
