Ship Repair Confusion

Post by Dereck »

It's been so long I've forgotten all about ship repair. For the ships on this list what would be the best mode? Pierside to get the damage down and then ship off to the East/West coast?

You definitely want to get floatation damage down to about 40 with no system damage or chances are good that some of those ships founder on the way to US shipyards. Unfortunately, that usually means months undergoing repair in the shipyard at Pearl Harbor as pier-side alone won't repair the major (red) damage. Triage works best. Get the most lightly damaged ships out first and sideline the worst wrecks for later to save drydock space.

Except for the Vestal which could be rushed to help the other ships, pier side and low priority except for the lightly damaged ships. Take a look at upgrades as well, some might have some coming up a soon. Also, any ship that departs need to have enough damaged repaired so i can leave and not cost you PPs. Once the pier side damage repair does all that it can, then use the shipyard.
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

the 2 CLs followed by Maryland can be repaired fully at Pearl. the other DDs would follow 1/2 at a time once the 2 CLs are out. The other 2 BBs are put on pier for a LONG time until systems damage is in the 20s then dock one to get floatation damage in the 40s then send it stateside at cruise speed with a strong capt (inspirational) to keep morale positive. the systems damage MUST be low or you will be giving the japs 200 vps for each....in the early stages of the war they are a liability anyway, so time is not an issue with them...
